Dostana

Dostana is a romantic comedy set in the vibrant, energetic city of Miami. Kunal and Sameer are two "boys will be boys" kind of guys. They meet by chance after spending the night at an apartment shared by two girls. Kunal and Sam keep bumping into each other the next day, and they realize they are even looking into renting the same apartment. However, the owner is looking for women only, as her aunty does not want her to be corrupted by the presence of men in the house. When Kunal and Sameer see how magnificent the apartment is, they pretend, in a moment of desperation, that they are a gay couple. Trouble starts when they meet their housemate, Neha. Both Sameer and Kunal immediately fall in love with her. At first, the attraction only seems surface deep. But as the story progresses, stronger, more intimate relationships are established. More conflict and comedy ensue when Neha's boss, Abhimanyu Singh, takes an interest in her too. Will Sameer and Kunal be able to keep up the guise of a gay couple, or will their true feelings bring their lies crashing down around them? Dostana deals with contemporary and age-old themes of sexuality.Kunal's and Sameer's role as a gay couple, while more acceptable in contemporary America, is met with conflict when Sameer's conservative mother finds out that he is "gay." In order to explore these deeper emotions and conflicts, the film incorporates song in to the story. The music and dances are very lively and entertaining, providing a nice break in the dialogue. The songs also provide clues as to the underlying feelings of the characters. A song titled "Maa Da Laadla" is funny, yet it also reveals how disappointed and upset Sameer's mother is that he is gay. Overall, Dostana never seemed to have a dull moment. The film is rich and vibrant, with lots of upbeat, contemporary music. The success of the film is also due to the great chemistry between the cast members. John Abraham plays Kunal and Abhishek Bachchan is Sameer. Priyanka Chopra plays Neha , and Bobby Deol is her boss, Abhimanyu Singh. Dostana is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and the soundtrack is composed by Vishal-Shekhar. If you're in the mood for comedy, romance, jealousy, and friendship, watch Dostana.

I actually bought this as a replacement of the original I lent to a friend who never returned it. Now on to my movie review:Usually, Abishek Bachchan and John Abraham play heavier tough-guy roles. However, they excel in comedy! I think they should do more comedic roles because their timing is right on queue. I laughed so hard at one point, I almost peed my pants! I definitely had tears streaming from laughing so much.It has great music; it is set in Miami so there's familiar scenery for the non-Indian Hindi film fans that would LOVE to see MORE Hindi films made here....maybe with some American actors? This is the easiest way I can think of to expose more of the American public to the fabulous genre of Hindi films.It's just LOTS of fun!! A great place to start if you've been toying with the idea of watching a Hindi movie, but wasn't sure where to start. A must see!!

An incredibly well made Bollywood film, this was filmed in high definition with very beautifully chosen colour palettes and shooting. The first five minutes are a little out of place and don't add much to the movie, so don't worry if it just seems like an out of place music video, but it definitely sets the fun mood for the rest of the film.All of the actors are phenomenal and hilarious and fun, and everything is kept lighthearted and campy. It can get a little predictable, and some people might say it's TOO campy, but that's half the fun of Bollywood anyways. The songs and dances are fun and catchy, and the dvd is not region locked, so fear not! Subtitles are available in English, Arabic, Dutch, Telgu, and Tamil, so you'll be able to enjoy this with the whole family

The story is fairly simple: Two straight guys pretend to be gay (Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham) to bypass a "no male roommate" policy. Inevitably they each fall in love with their hot female roommate (Priyanka Chopra). In steps the roommate's attractive boss (Bobby Deol) who steals her heart and the two guys scheme to sabotage their relationship.What I liked...-The casting was perfect. Abhishek and John, especially, are hysterical.-The Westernized subject matter made this film really appealing to my friends who don't usually enjoy Bollywood-The soundtrack is great... my favorite songs are "Kuch Kum" and "Desi Girl"What I didn't like...-Very little if anythingSo, I highly recommend checking this one out and clearing a little space in the den to dance along.

I love Bollywood movies and have been watching them for about 8 years now. Out of all of the great movies I've seen, Dostana takes the cake as my favorite of all time! Dostana is at the top, followed by great Bollywood films like Kuch Naa Kaho, Dil To Pagal Hai and What's Your Rashee. Don't miss this one!The three main characters are hilarious and the plot is sweet and loving. Abhshek, John and Priyanka make a fantastic comedy trio and I really hope they make more films together in the near future. The music is great and the movie is set in Miami, which is unusual for Bollywood. If you love Bollywood, romance or comedy -- watch Dostana!

anyone who has seen chuck and larry, i have been told the theme is similar. but this is a heartfelt movie. basically two guys in love with the same girl but have to pretend to be gay in order to live with her because the aunt is very strict (my favorite character). it is full of a few really beautiful songs and is touching. i am a sucker for indian cinema. but it is beautiful, funny, dramatic, serious, light-hearted, heavy-hearted. lol. it really is a very well-rounded movie and i thuoroughly enjoy it every time i watch it.

Really great music, funny story line well played for laughs and light escapist entertainment!

Da ich und meine Mama sehr große Bollywood Fans sind habe ich diesen Film auf DVD bestellt. Für alle die ebenfalls Bollywood Fans sind oder es noch werden möchten kann ich diesen Film und weitere Indische Filme nur wärmstens empfehlen. In diesem Film hier geht es um wahre Freundschaft zwischen zwei Männern und einer Frau die sich im laufe des Films beide in die Frau verlieben und aber vorher so tun bei der Frau als seien sie schwul was sie aber beide nicht sind. Mehr verrate ich nicht schaut euch den Film an er ist immer wieder zum lachen und steckt voller Lebensfreude. Denn wie heißt es Bollywood macht glücklich.Leider muss ich noch etwas zu meiner Bewertung hinzufügen was ich ganz am Anfang leider nicht wissen konnte, nämlich das die DVD fast am Ende des Films anhält und nicht mehr weiter läuft. Daher war ich gezwungen gewesen die DVD zu Medimops wieder zurückzuschicken und mir diesen Film dann woanders bestellen zu müssen. Daher kann ich nun nur zwei Sterne geben, ich wusste vorher ja nicht das die DVD nicht einwandfrei ist, dass habe ich erst gesehen als ich den Film sah und es am Ende halt nicht mehr weiter lief.

eine komödie vom feinsten, da kann man richtig gut ablachen. alle drei schauspieler sind spitze und überzeugend. ich finde abishek in komischen rollen einfach besser als in ernsten. abgesehen von dom, da ist er überzeugend. priyanka ist super spitze und wandlungsfähig in ihren rollen. in der don reihe mit srk war sie schon gut und mit rhitik in krissh 2 noch besser und bei diesem film schwärme ich noch mehr für sie als schauspielerin.

Dieser Film wird jedem, der über eine Spur Humor verfügt, Spass machen. Bisher haben mich Hindi-Komödien nicht interessiert, da ich mit dem brachialem Humor nichts anzufangen weiss.Hier konnte ich richtig lachen und schmunzeln. Alle Schauspieler hatten sichtlich gefallen an ihren Rollen und auch Priyanka Chopra brauchte nicht nur schön zu sein.Film kaufen , ansehen, lachen und sich wohl fühlen.

Hab mich so extrem gefreut als ich diesen Film endlich nach Jahren wieder gefunden hab . Konnte es kaum abwarten es zu haben und anzuschauen. Lief super bis zu 1:33:43 jetzt geht nix , bleibt alles hängen und schaltet sich aus . Leider kann ich das Ende nicht sehen . Also Danke für nix !!! 8€gebraucht gezahlt was nicht mal mehr geht . Für 10€ hab ich es damals bei TechnoMarkt vor 6 Jahren gekauft, leider hab ich es verloren . Also gebraucht kauf ich nie wieder mehr was 👎👎👎👎

Ja es ist ein Bollywood Film trotzdem ist er wirklich witzig. Es geht um Freundschaft und Liebe. Natürlich gibt es wieder Tanzeinlagen die bei einem richtigen Bollywood Film dazu gehören. Ich habe ihn einige mal schon geschaut und er bringt mich immer noch zum lächeln. Deswegen empfehle ich diesen Film mehr als nur gerne weiter
