Such a great game, enjoyable even if you're not a Harry Potter expert
This is a fantastic twist on Clue with a Harry Potter theme. However, although being familiar with the books and/or movies might enhance your enjoyment of the game, it's not necessary in order to play, and enjoy, this game. One of the fun features that sets this version apart from the standard Clue game is that, with each turn, one of four wheels (one for each of the "Houses" at Hogwarts) is turned, which reveals something in one of several windows on the game board. It might be the "Dark Mark" requiring you to take a Dark Card and face your fate (unless you have a "Help" card to get you out of the jam); or it might be a secret passageway you can use to move to another room instantly regardless of your dice roll. The visuals of the game-- the rooms, the cards, the characters and suspects and weapons and so forth-- are all detailed and gorgeous. The sepia-toned board takes a bit of getting used to because it's all a similar color and the names of the rooms are not that easy to read-- but you'll quickly get used to it.When we played the game for the first time, we were somewhat daunted by all the preliminary set-up. There are numerous "House Points" tokens to punch out, stickers to apply to one of the die, wheels to punch out and attach to the game board, cards to sort, etc. However, once that was done, our first complete game took about 45 minutes, which was just right. And most of those preliminaries will not have to be repeated, so don't be daunted by that initial set-up. We used several small plastic bags to store some of the various cards and so forth so they are ready for the next game.Great game; we all really enjoyed it!

Great Game For Potter Fans
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and I had been "watching" this game for quite a while... but it seemed to only be available from secondary sellers at astronomical rates ($100+ CAD... give me a break!)So... imagine my excitement when I logged onto Amazon, and I was notified that USAOPOLY was selling this game for a... reasonable... price. Well, I nearly fainted. Luckily, with the help of a quick spell, I was able to compose myself just long enough to hit "check out". Then I waited with anxiety as it was shipped. When it arrived, I tore into the box and found that the game had arrived in great shape, and was exactly as described.Unfortunately for me the game then sat, unused, for several months on my game shelf before I found a few loyal Harry Potter fans to "test drive" it with me. Now, you may be saying to yourself, "Reviewer [that's me], why on Earth would you wait so long to play this game, especially since you waited foooooorrrreeeevvvveeeeeerrrrrr to buy it?" So to you, Dear Consumer, I will say this:When playing a speciality version of a classic board game, (such as Harry Potter Clue) it is VERY important that your first experience is with friends who are mega-fans like you. If you cannot locate any other mega-fans, or if you've reached such a level fandom, the upper echelon if you will, that no one in your circle can match your passion and excitement... just find some people you sorta like, who share a passive interest in the subject matter. Have they seen at least one (1) Harry Potter movie? Can they name the three (3) main protagonists? They'll do. And remember... try not to give them too hard a time. Remember: games are meant to be enjoyed by everyone. Your casual Harry Potter fan-friends aren't going to want to play with you if you're scoffing at their lack of intimate knowledge of Gellert Grindelwald. Also, you need them more than they need you. You NEED them to play this game. Otherwise, your game will just sit, unused on your shelf, for an indefinite amount of time. And it looks so sad... just sitting there...The second thing I will advise about this game is that the instructions make the gameplay seem WAY more complicated than it actually is. Do not be frightened. Have you played Clue before? Great! That's what this is. Just read the set-up and BASIC gameplay. Everything else can be addressed as you go along.Third: This game and all its pieces are a big spread, requiring a large tabletop to play comfortably.Fourth: Pay attention to how the wheels turn to change the layout of the game board. This is one of the game's coolest features. You will see passageways change, and the Dark Mark may appear.Fifth: Keep a close eye on your House Points, and all the ways you can lose them (see: Dark Mark). If you don't, you'll be out of the game before you realize it.Sixth: Don't fight with your friends over who plays which character. Listen to me: It. Does. Not. Matter. Pick your battles, man. This game is seriously a lot of fun! If you're even a mild Harry Potter fan, the additions to the Clue gameplay make it worthwhile.

Macht sehr viel Spaß! Kaufempfehlung!
