Q: How wide across is the bowl (in inches)?

I don’t have it with me but, I think it was around 5 inches. I will tell you that I was no impressed with item. Looks like a step up from the dollar store.

Q: in the picture the hummingbirds look cheap. Are they well-made?

yes they do this bird bath is much smaller than it appears in picture

Q: How much water does this Birdbath trellis need? How often should it be replaced?

Its not too deep so maybe every other day at best. I use mine for food instead
