#Cook For Syria Recipe Book

Beautifully written and illustrated. I have several middle eastern cookery books and so far, Cook for Syria has offered up some interesting variations on recipes I have already tried, and some that are unfamiliar. My reasons for buying this book were twofold. First, I am glad to be able to support, albeit in a small way, the innocent victims of the Syrian crisis, and second, I love the subtlety and goodness of Middle eastern food. I know I will use this book a lot.

Bought the book purely because of where the money goes. Great cause and great idea. The book itself is beautiful, found some of the recipes to be a little simple, like a recipe for hummus for example. I understand some people don't know how to make it but it's something you would probably look on the internet for. Otherwise lovely!

I have given this four stars because I wholeheartedly applaud the premise behind this book, and would encourage anyone to buy it on that basis alone. Also it is beautifully presented with some interesting recipes. However a day to day recipe book it is not, in fact I didn't see one thing that I think I would actually cook. Most of the recipes are the sort of thing you would find in a more upmarket restaurant, it is not typical Syrian home cooking. All very worthy, but for me the style and content seemed inherently contradictory to the overall purpose of the book. Buy it anyway - it's an important cause - but if you want authentic Syrian recipes don't expect this to fulfill the brief.

Gorgeous recipes, gorgeous pictures, great chefs and all for charity. I don't think it can get any better. Many wonderful dishes in there for everyone, every taste is covered, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan, sweet ... it's all in there. The ingredients used inspire me to think outside the box.

A fab book for an excellent cause!! I've made the flatbreads, the tahini chocolate cake and the tahini date cardamom rolls - all were outstanding and the latter 2 recipes used tahini in sweet recipes which I hadn't thought of before.

Beautiful book, an abundance of delicious recipes, and a very worthy cause. A winner in every way. Waiting for my second copy to arrive. Amazing folks who set it up, who contributed to it, and have turned it into a worldwide initiative.

I purchased this book for a gift it was hard parting with it, it’s absolutely beautiful the recipes are outstanding l will be ordering another immediately.

Purchased this for a friend and the recipient loved it. Not only are the recipes wonderful and easy to make; but it's even more wonderful knowing you are supporting such a worthwhile cause. This would make a great gift for food lovers, new home owners or anyone else looking to do some good and gain an awesome treat at the same time. I especially love some of the modern takes on traditional recipes!
