To be, or not to be. That is the question.
The story revolves around two-face, specifically on his origins and how he came to be. And as some of you may know, when it comes to his origin stories, you're to expect some real quality (now it's no Long Halloween so don't get your hopes too high). Since this is a part of Peter J. Tomasi's *new 52* run it takes a new approach to Dent's origins, now involving the Irish Mafia. The story looks upon the relationship Dent has with his life and that of with the batman. By this we get to see a more human side to Dent as in the long halloween. With that they manage to make Dent reflect on his crusade of vengeance and crime which coincides with Bruce's urge to get Dent the help he needs is very much appreciated as it portrays the two-faced character in a more lighter side. Honestly, I believe this is Tomasi's best story of the run as it portrays Two-face in a unique manner, one that I've been hoping to see for quite some time.

the best work by Tomasi that I've ever read
Long Halloween and Dark Victory are my two favourite Batman classics, so I was really interested in how Tomasi was going to depict Two-Face and the crime mobs. This is a rewrite of Two-Face's origin and is a great story, probably the best work by Tomasi that I've ever read. This story sometimes seems like it was written in a rush (e.g. the very promising storyline with Carrie Kelley has totally disappeared with no explanation, and Two-Face isn't really in his own story much). Patrick Gleason's artwork is superb as usual, especially combined with the colourist's beautiful use of shadow and darkness. But in some panels I have no idea what I am looking at; there is this weird vertical panel where Erin puts on her bike helmet, and it just looks like the squid from Watchmen. There is so much drama in this, I wish that it had gone on for another issue just so that we could see more pre-acid Harvey being a good DA, so we can see why exactly Jim Gordon and Bats still respect him so much. I think that Tomasi knew that this was a controversial rewrite, and was concentrating so much on making Erin a much more compelling nemesis for Harvey than Maroni was in The Long Halloween, that he didn't focus enough on Harvey himself. But Erin is a wonderful character and I recommend this if you already love Tomasi and Gleason. Worth getting this just for the bonus Two-Face headshot variant cover by Brian Bolland which is just...wow!

Verzenden
Knappe stripverhalen verzonden met weer povere verpakking.Dit blijft een probleem dat ongetwijfeld zorgt voor minder bestellingen.Dus AUB betere verpakkingen. (ok, de post is medeplichtig vermoed ik).

A Seriously Underrated Run
I forgot how good Tomasi and Gleason have been doing on this series. It's easily overlooked due to the hype surrounding Snyder and Capullo's work on BATMAN, but "& Robin" is a treat for any and all Batman fans.Excellent artwork, great writing, and really good take on Two Face's origins.I love how this one ends, despite it seemingly having been disregarded for Rebirth's All-Star Batman series. It's absolutely worth your time.

I believe in Harvey Dent
Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason have the thankless job of producing the best Batman stories of our generation that go almost completely unrecognized. In the wake of DC's ill conceived and poorly implemented "New 52" Batman and Robin is one of the very few series to make meaningful changes to continuity while still telling incredible stories. Batman and Robin volume 5: The Big Burn would have been billed as an event in a more popular series because that is exactly what it is. Peter Tomasi delivers his take on Harvey Dent and it is magnificent. No one is ever entirely comfortable with change in continuity and the fact that this arc is a slow burn doesn't help matters. Just know that this iteration of Two Face is faithful to the spirit of the character while successfully putting a new spin on it. Fire brand and Mob boss, Erin McKillen, the woman responsible for the worst day in Harvey Dent's life, is back in town and is the spark that threatens to burn Gotham to the ground. What follows is a violent, emotional, gorgeously drawn, neck breaking paced tear of an arc that delivers a deeply satisfying conclusion and elevates Two Face to the level the character has always deserved but so few writers are able to reach. Batman and Robin is one of the best series DC is currently writing and Vol 5 is no exception. An absolute buy.
