My kids LOVE this game. It took a while for them to get the hang of it in this form, but once they did, it was great. It's a great handbag size, it comes in a cute little tin. I think it's great value for money. It's great fun. I would recommend

You will need the manual dexterity of a ninja to be able to write on the tiny pads

You sunk my battleship!
Needed a stocking filler for my 5 year old and what better way to do it than with a classic game like this. He can now read maps and we have a shared experience that goes across the generations when one of us sinks the others battleship. It's not electronic and flash, but you can shout 'boom' all you want when you get a hit. Some things are best left to the imagination of a child. It's a little small for anyone under 5 probably (being a travel set), but has everything you will need to play.
