Ruffhides Refillable Chew Toys - Classic Size Blue with Himalayan Chew -Made in the USA

Let me preface my review with the fact that every single toy purchased for our two labs, 95lbs and 85lbs, does not last. All of the toys that are made for "aggressive chewers" and "guaranteed tough" are a joke in our house. However, I had high hopes that this particular toy (one for each dog in the Super Size) would be the ticket. This was our first experience with the Himalayan chew, so I was surprised when I saw how easy it was for my boys to crack it down the middle and then the pieces fell out of the Ruffhide. Maybe they have jaws of steel, maybe I had unrealistic expectations, but it was somewhat disappointing when the Himalayan chew didn't even last 30 minutes. Once the inside was gone, I checked the actual Ruffhide, and other than a few spots where the teeth imprints were still visible, the toy was still in great shape. We then purchased separately the American Beef Hides Refillable Wraps. Once they arrived, we attempted to put them into the Ruffhide. My father-in-law and husband both had a very difficult time getting these into the toy, and ended up having to use a flathead screwdriver for leverage to squeeze the refill into the toy. At this point, I was pretty excited because if it was that hard to get it, perhaps it would be harder for my dogs to get out. WRONG. Within one hour, both dogs had chewed off pieces of the Ruffhide and were able to slide the rawhide out. I did not give this toy one star because I could see how this might be beneficial for less tenacious chewers, but I'm now off in search of something more durable that still keeps my dogs attention (Kong toys last longer, but mainly because they don't get played with as much). I really liked the idea of this toy because my border collie puppy churns through Himalayan Chews like they are paper. Unfortunately the toy comes with a very strong plastic/rubbery smell that hasn't dissipated through three washes in the dishwasher. It's also quite heavy.The pup will play with the toy briefly but becomes uninterested quickly. Since I bought this to keep her occupied, it's not serving its purpose. I don't want to give up on it yet, so it's gone back into the dishwasher for another try.

By far my FAVORITE dog toy. i have 3 huge dogs, 2 huskies and an Australian shepherd and they destroy every toy they find. this is the only toy that has out lasted everyone of them! a little hard to put the yak toy in when replacing but you get the hang of it by the second or third replacement. i had to buy each of the dogs one of these cause they don't like sharing haha. can't say enough good things about this toy!

My two dogs are heavy chewers and this treat toy has been the only toy to withstand their teeth. My dogs are 45-60lbs. Plus, without the dispenser, they would go through the Himalayan chews in one sitting, now it lasts 3-4 weeks before they get it small enough to take out and microwave.

My dogs love this, I am careful to examine though to make sure it is not chipping or tearing and unsafe for dogs. So far it has stood up to the heavy chewers.

Purchased one to try since my two Dobermans normally go through the Himalayan chews pretty quickly as they surely must be part alligator! Not only did it slow them down but they went nuts over this toy stealing it from each other every chance they got. Another huge selling point is my 9 yr old that normally figures out every puzzle and has the core popped out within 15 minutes has yet to figure out how to get the Himalayan chew out! I purchased another one gladly.

While it did make the treat last longer, my Catahoula/ Lab mix chewed through the end of it in less than two hours. Holder is now worthless and the extra treats I bought for it will be gone in the usual 10 minutes. Would not recommend for any type of “chewer” dog, but normal dog owners might have better luck.
