Absolutely superb product. Packed full of features.
These smoke alarms are excellent - everything about them screams quality - from the moment the box arrives at the door. You can tell that this is a premium product. Setup is easy, download the app and pair it with your WiFi then stick it on the ceiling. Buy more than one of these and they speak to each other as well as your WiFi/iPhone. New generation Nest Protect will detect smoke and Carbon Monoxide. These look great on the ceiling in any house.Pros + Cons+ Premium Look & Feel+ Ridiculously Easy Setup+ Will alert you of any activations even if you are not home+ They speak to you in a real voice rather than just beep+ Early warning means they will give you a polite warning before full activation to allow you to open the windows and get the pancake smoke out+ They speak to you and say where the smoke/CO has been detected so you know where the potential fire is+ They flash green when you turn the lights off at night to let you know they are working properly+ Night light function that lights the room up when you walk under them (or on all night if you want on the mains version)+ Excellent App+ Monthly status email advising how many activations+ IFTTT (If This Then That) integration so if these go off, you can program to automatically shut the boiler down if it's a CO alarm - potential life saver. Even if you don't have the Nest thermostat (Mine is Honeywell Evohome)+ 10 year sensorCons:- None. This is absolutely the 'Next Generation' of smoke alarm. You don't need the Nest thermostat for these so if need a new smoke alarm, this is the one to go for. Yes they are pricey, but you can't put a price on a product like this in my opinion.

Great device - best smoke alarm I’ve had
I love nest smoke alarms, and it’s a real shame these are part of google demise strategy. The good news is that these will last a good ten years from manufacture so if you want one, it’s a good time to grab them now.Set up was quick and easy and is now in the google home app and not the nest app - which for me is convenient and definitely a much better user experience.

Worth the expense
These are very expensive alarms but if you get them in the sales then they are worth the money. Small features such as the self check green light when you turn the lights off at night reassure you that they are functional when you are off to bed. The pre alarm notifications are useful to prevent the noise if you have just burnt a bit of food to stop any kids waking up. Having an app to check all is working well and getting notifications when you are away from home is a great piece of mind if the kids are alone or you are away. Very easy to install and the night light is another useful feature. They also look quite good on the ceiling, not bulky and actually look a little like a smart speaker.

Good build quality. Easy to install. Expensive!
Expensive, but good quality and easy to install via App. Seem to work well (hoping they're never needed)

Good, with a few install limitations
I have installed 4x of these Wired Nest Protect units over the past couple of days. We live in an older new-build home which had pre-existing wired smoke alarms, so the wiring was already in place for these. Overall I am very happy with the looks and performance of the smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, but wanted to call out the positives and negatives:POSITIVES:- Super easy to install via the Nest app- They look great, plus the path lighting at night is such a nice (and overlooked) feature- The ability to silence alarms from your mobile device- Install (once you understand the Nest's foibles) is a breeze- They are the main (other than Fireangel which worked out to be more expensive) hard-wired "smart" smoke alarmNegatives:- Only 3 wago-style clips included, if have pre-existing hard-wired alarms you will likely have L, N, E + interconnect. If you are not replacing all of your alarms with Nest you will need to terminate your interconnect.- The process of mounting the alarm to the bracket requires you to twist and turn, which means that the hole for the wires needs to be bigger than you would likely expect. There are other photos on these reviews which explain this shortcoming. There is surely a better way to connect these alarms to the bracket.- The carbon monoxide alarm has a 10 year lifespan. The devices I received had a remaining lifespan of 9yrs and 2 months. It's a shame that Amazon has stock sitting around for so long.- Cost: whilst I am happy with my overall purchase, these are a big outlay for a product which have been out for a long time. Additionally, Google has set precedent of killing features from the app, so it wouldn't surprise me if these are removed from sale in due course.
