I'm thoroughly satisfied for the quality of videos and stills
After playing with the camera for about a week, I'm thoroughly satisfied for the quality of videos and stills, especially for the price. (I got it on a "Daily Deal). There are, however, two shortcomings, neither a deal breaker. The first is the strap for wearing as a helmet cam. The one received was not long enough to go around my bare head, let alone a helmet. It barely made it around my arm. A trip to Walley World fabric dept. cured that problem. Again, no biggie. The second, and was noted previously, is the owners manual. It is completely worthless. You need some idea of what you're doing because the manual has no instructions. You just have to play with the camera to figure most things out. The 2" touchscreen/ viewer is easier to use if you use a stylus, unless you have long, pointy fingernails, Again, for me, not a big deal. after playing with the camera for about 45 minutes, I figured most things out. I may have missed some items, but I'll find them later..

Sounds like they did not read the instructions
Don't know what some of these negative reviews are from . Sounds like they did not read the instructions. Great camera for the price, It's not a go pro and if you expect that for this price I don't know what to say. Dash cam works great! Video is clear and stable. pictures are outstanding .I bought a 32gb card and that 7 hours of recording . It is a daytime camera , unless you have bright lighting. But if you want a good product this is it.

Poor Quality - Dead after about 2 hours of use.
Even at $50 with free shipping, this product is not worth the money. I bought this less than a year ago. It has been used 4 times and it no longer works. It will not power on at all. Even when connected to my USB hub, all I get is the charging indicator which flickers on and off. Before it died, I was able to get some video. The video quality is OK but the microphone is beyond useless. Even yelling into it from my kayak, my voice is barely audible. The voices of my paddle partners in the boats right next to me are inaudible. The video viewfinder washes out completely in bright sunlight, you cannot see it at all.I took two separate videos this past weekend. It was while downloading to my computer that it died. As I said, it no longer even powers up and the viewfinder remains dark. I know it is not a battery problem as I left it connected to USB overnight.Even as a low cost alternative to GO PRO cameras, $50 for about 2 hours total of video before the thing breaks is simply not worth the money in my opinion. Given the horrible microphone and woeful viewfinder, I suggest you save up for a GO PRO and do not purchase this camera unless you are willing to pay $50 for something you use 2-3 times and then just throw away.

Flaky, returned.
It's too bad, the video quality, even in the waterproof case, was really pretty good. Audio was pretty good too when it was not in the waterproof case (which completely muffles all audio). Sadly, the negatives won. These include:- Flaky firmware. After a few episodes where the cam never started recording at all despite the red flashing light, today it recorded 30 minutes of my bike ride, including a van almost t-boning me (I had the right of way)... and the whole 30 minutes was just a repeat of the very first frame (30 minutes of me looking at my handlebars before leaving the house, great). So, I guess that driver got away without a ticket. You just can't be sure without lots of checking if this things recording and recording right. That's especially problematic when it's mounted atop your head.- Awful instructions, do not explain key functionality or refer to older versions (that's my guess, the instructions do not match the on-screen icons and what they do in full, just partly) including nothing at all on the at times odd attachments (the "book" comes with pages uncut, you have to cut them if you want to read ever second and third page, this may speak to attention to detail, or lack thereof),- Flaky color correction. It's fully automatic. I've had some videos in bright light come out entirely blue. Weird.- Camera fogs up. After about 45 minutes, the video became so foggy that I could not longer make anything out. I am not sure if the camera or battery were releasing steam into the waterproof case or what.- Odd attachments. The mount for bicycle handlebars would make it so the camera is mounted sideways. Weird. The helmet mount works OK, but the clip that slides into it rattles and I had to slip a bit of paper in there so that my audio was not primarily just the rattling sound over everything.I have a Mac. A few notes if you do have this that might help that are not covered in the manual:- When you connect by USB, despite the red light turning on, you need to hit the power button to get the computer to recognize the camera.- Once you do, unless you've turned this off, iPhoto should come up and show your videos; however, this is not the best way to deal with video. You should turn this auto load feature off in iPhoto preferences. You will also have a new drive that shows on your desktop or in Finder. That drive will have a directory for video with a file for each clip you recorded. You can open and run video from here, copy it as you like, etc...- When you are done, before you disconnect the camera, don't forget to either drag the drive icon to the trash to unmount it or to right click and select unmount, lest you risk corruption of the data.- While the camera is connected, you can hit the shutter button to toggle between PC USB mode (where the camera emulates a USB drive) and PC CAM mode (where the camera emulates a USB webcam, which it can be used for very nicely). As far as I can tell though, you can't turn the camera itself on while connected to the USB port, even if you just plug the camera into power (as in an iphone style wall jack). This means you can only record video on battery. Maybe the DC power adapter solves this, I don't know.General notes that may be of use:- The instructions don't explain the recording mode acronyms. FHD = Full HD (1920x1080), HD = 720p (1280x720) and 640 = VGA (640x480).- When reviewing recorded video on the camera, to switch back to recording mode, you have to hit the shutter button, there is no onscreen icon to do this. Same when you are in settings.- When you have it recording for a bit, it times out and shuts off the screen to save battery I guess. When you hit the shutter button first, this does not turn off recording, but simply "wakes up" the camera. You have to hit it again once it's awake to turn it off.- The battery lasts a bit over an hour for me with a 32G card onboard, which uses up about 1/3 capacity in FHD. So, unless you intend to recharge and record more before taking your videos off the camera, 16G is the most you need and 8G is pretty good.- Don't forget to buy a micro SIM with it, otherwise you can't save video anywhere, there is no internal storage.

Not bad, but not high quality
I have no qualms with this device, I just may have had larger expectations going into it than I should have. Essentially I was looking for a replacement to a GoPro, and while it functions in the same manner I should have sprung for the higher quality device. For those of you looking for a budget camera that is water/drop proof and can stomach the lower quality images/videos you would record, I do suggest this as a great alternate. It comes with mounting brackets for bikes, cars, helmets etc for the extreme sports fans and can also serve as a stand alone cam. However since our smart phones typically have a better camera and larger functionality range for everyday use, I would say only pick this bugger up if you NEED a GoPro like cam.If your end goal is more secure everyday camera, try and protect your cell phone :)
