I am only moderately pleased with this book
I am only moderately pleased with this book. Admittedly, it offers top end recipie ideas, but makes them unnecessarily complicated. It is not necessary to have a syrup for everything,Sugar would often do as well. Having said that it introduces a lot of basic methods, which is useful. His recipies are more for big time caterers, who keep these syrups and pastries in the fridge as they use them daily. This way it makes sense to make a big quantity and store. But if you want dsserts just for one dinner party or one off entertaining they are unnecessarilytime consuming. Anyway, it gives you a few nice ideas.

Bought this as a present for my Mum, and she seemed pleased with it (not that she'd say if she wasn't). Only tried the chocolate sauce so far, but that was excellent. It seems to have a good range of recipes.The book was a bit smaller (physically) than I expected, so check the dimensions if that's important to you.

A beautiful gift.
Buying one copy as a birthday gift, I could not resist one for myself too, as the recipes and photos are so tempting. An impressive book for the price -even if some of the desserts are too ambitious for me.The author is, of course, NOT the Michel Roux(Jnr) of many tv cookery programmes ; it is his uncle.

There's always something to learn for the home cook in these books. Some advanced recipes, but beautifully presented.

Love this book very much
Love this book very much. If one has the desire to bake this is the book, at last this is for me. Love all Michelle's books, I learned so many things from them. Only disappointment I had was 'sauces' on Kindle version (I gave it a 1 star) however the book is as good the others.

im a sucker for michel roux.. and the photos are amazing- ONE THING to keep in mind though is some of his recipes aren't very clear and some key technical advice is lacking.. i am a chef and still had problems with fully understanding some of the instructions, his sauces book is simpler and easier to understand..

Great book
Thou i have to say, it is hard to MR, fairplay to him. i wish i would have more time to practice his recipes. i have tried one so far and didnt come up quite well, as some of the ingredients are not easy to find in Ireland. Looking forward to try a few more on x-mas season.
