I have a far more expensive version of one of these. They both work in a similar way, so ordered this to see what it was like.The pillow is fairly lightweight. The rotating spheres circle in one direction then after a while,change direction. This helps really knead any tired muscles and knots. It's particularly good for shoulders and back if you have been sat at a desk or computer all day, but can also be used for legs if you have sciatica, as well as arms and feet. The heat it generates is only very slight after it has been running for a while. It's not like a heat lamp. When you turn it on it will automatically stop after about twenty minutes as that is probably long enough for one session. If you have never had a shiatsu massage before, you need to understand this is not a gentle massage, it is more of a deep tissue sports massage that will relieve tired aching muscles and knots. The more you lean into the pillow the harder it will get into the muscles. If you want less pressure, you could use a towel or blanket between you and the pillow.Downsides are the lead length is not that long so you need to sit or lie quite close to a power socket. It seemed a bit noisier than my more expensive one but it's not bad enough to disturb the relaxation of the massage. It is obvious this is made in Asia so the translations of the description and instructions are written in very poor English which doesn't really make much sense, but it's simple to use i.e. Basically connect the lead to the connector wire on the pillow, plug in and press the start button on the pillow. I have tested it once and it seemed to work fine, but am not sure about its long term use.My main concern about this is that there is no CE number on it to show it has been safety tested to European or U.K. Standards, so I have no idea how long this will actually last or how safe it is long term. The plug itself is completely sealed so you cannot see if it is wired correctly and if the fuse went you would not be able to open this to replace it.

Absolutely amazing massage pillow. Forget its inexpensiveness - this device functions almost as though you were receiving a real therapy-type massage, It simply dissolves all tension, aches and knotted muscles, etc. at the lower back of head, neck and down either side of the spine. It also works well on calf and thigh. I experience high stress levels related to my work and was sceptical at first as to its efficiency, but now I wonder how I managed without it. The heat function is gentle but effective and the resulting feeling of heat plus massage results in a complete feeling of well-being. It's very sturdily made although one tiny criticism is that I personally would have preferred a little bit longer power cord. Highly recommended nonetheless.

Brilliant! - really strong massage balls for a deep kneading action. Mildly heated but heat function can be switched off if preferred. Planning on getting another one for myself as this one was a gift for a fsmile member. The pin plug provided was faulty but a quick email to the very helpful supplier (amazon were not helpful at all!!) and a new one arrived within 3 days! - can't recommend enough if you like a deep massage.

After less than a year and use only a few times, this machine made a loud bang and blew the electrics. Another reviewer has also mentioned the same problem. Does not meet UK safety standards.

Arrived on Saturday 27th Jan 2018. It was recommended to me by someone who has the same. I enjoyed the massager but noticed some problem. Firstly I had used this for several 20 min sessions. I didn’t experience any (automatic change-over function), which was stated. The 15 min timing shut off function seemed to fail too. Finally at 8.15pm on 28th Jan (36 hours after the machine arrived) I sat down with my cup of green tea & swithched on the machine. 10 mins into the massage & without any noticed warning the adaptor blew up, with a stunning firecracker sound & the adaptor cover flew off hitting my ceiling & bouncing back down of my tv. My fuse box did it’s job by short circuiting. I tried not to give any rating stars for this imitation but Amazon wouldn’t allow me to post a review otherwise.

Brilliant massage!! This pillow gets all the knots out of my back and I felt wonderful after! It can be a little painful (which is a good thing) so I just pop a blanket in between! The touch of heat is fantastic, well worth the money!

I had one of these for Christmas but it broke, probably overheated so ordered another. Will be careful not to go over the recommended time with this one as I have back problems and it does help. It isn't a gentle massage but effrctive.

Chunky clunky and not as expected - Wouldn't buy again. My wife stopped using it after first couple of weeks. Heat can't be felt (if there is any).
