Excellent value for money!
I wouldn't recommend this. We make a lot of home made bread and at full power toasting a piece of bread it will take over 3 minutes, and once the toast pops it have to be reheated at half power for 2 minutes just for it start to turn colour****** Update ****Andrew James got in touch and offered a replacement toaster as they believed my original toaster must have been faulty. After using it for a week I am pleased to say that it is a big improvement on the original toaster. Full power still takes 3 minutes but you would expect that, and it gives a good even burn in both slots. The price of the toaster is at the lower end of the market, but this doesn't look or work like a low quality product, I would recommend this for anyone in the market for a toaster that looks stylish and works well.

very handsome
hard to get enthusiastic about something as mundane as a toaster isn't it, but I have to say this is the smartest looking toaster I have ever seen and it would not look amiss on the worktop of even the most sophisticated kitchen. I have had the toaster for only a few weeks, but it gets used every day. I don't think you will ever find the perfect toaster but this comes close. It toasts evenly both sides of the bread, not like my last toaster which browned one side, whilst hardly touching the other . I only buy the thick sliced bloomer from Aldi and I do have to trim a sliver of crust off one side, but I had to do that with my old toaster anyway [the birds don't mind] . The only down side in my opinion is that the lever doesn't lift the toast higher than the top of the toaster, which isn't actually a problem for me, but I could see it might be if you were trying to toast crumpets, say.I can't see me using the warming rack for its intended purpose, but it crossed my mind that as I only use block butter it might come in handy to soften the butter in the winter when it is so hard!

Efficient, but only for standard size of bread.
This is a reasonably efficient toaster, which toasts bread evenly. It has a wide slot, so can take teacakes as well. It is not, however as flexible as I hoped in being able to cope with wider slices of bread. Really it will only fit standard sized sandwich - type slices, so I have to trim bits off our bread if I want to toast it. I don't really understand why I can't find a toaster that exactly does what I want - to be flexible enough to toast wide thick slices of bread and occasionally buns/teacakes, and toast it evenly. This one does meet some of my criteria, and maybe you just can't have everything. I don't really want to change the bread, just so it will fit the toaster. It looks good, though, and the warming rack might come in handy one day.

Toast tastes fab !!
This toaster toasts very nicely if a bit slow. However, I am comparing it to an ancient toaster of which I am glad to see the end. The Andrew James is stylish, quite heavy and stable with rubbery feet. The slowness means you get a lovely piece of toast, it actually tastes better! It will be fairly evenly toasted, I don't think you would get a more evenly toasted toast. I am not convinced the defrost or reheat modes are any different from the ordinary toasting setting. The rack above is very useful. I use this for reheating as it then does not try to cook the toast twice. Or you can put frozen bread on the rack before putting it in though you can also put it straight in frozen and that works too. Size of bread: well I buy a wholemeal loaf (not a plastic loaf if you know what I mean) and get the baker (Tesco) to slice it for me and these fit perfectly and the whole slice will be toasted. If you buy bread in a bag it is often too large and you will have to turn the slice up the other way halfway through to toast the other end.

First one malfunctioned but was promptly replaced. Looks good, works well enough now
I bought this because of the colour scheme and what looked like fairly compact design, yet capable of taking thicker bread slices and the croissant option as in the picture. It is actually quite a large and bulky design. but it is rather pretty. Unfortunately the first one that I bought started malfunctioning almost a month after, the handle for pushing down the bread would not stay up, then it started making tractor noises. Very bizzare to say the least. I wrote the Seller, and without actually getting any response I had a knock on my door and i got a replacement one (which then was followed by emails saying they have sent it and thanking me for my custom). The second one seems to be working so far so good. I like the matt black finish which is brilliantly easy to clean, and chrome fittings seem to be better quality than even the top brands use these days, but it is a little bulky so if you have a tiny kitchen think twice.

Nice to look at, excellent in use
Whilst the heating from each face is not quite even, this makes good toast hence the 5 stars. It is reasonably speedy but not too much so that can’t take your eye off it. I like the fairly strong eject and the fact that you can lift the toast quite high meaning you can heat a quick half slice too. The width is great if, like me, you occasionally like a ‘doorstep’ pieceIt’s very easy to clean and, although not for me, my granddaughter loves the rack for coissants - that’s a bonusAt first I was concerned that, because of the rack, the toaster could be turned on with no bread in it, however, as mentioned above, the spring is sufficiently strong that it’s difficult to turn on unintentionallyRecommended

Best toaster I’ve ever owned
I’ve had this toaster for about a year now and it’s excellent and still looks and works like new... with the exception of the toast crumbs. The toaster is a bit bigger than average, but the controlls are easy to use and and it looks attractive. I would say it takes much longer to toast than other toasters I have owned but it also produces much nicer toast which is evenly brown and toasted right to its core instead of just along the outside. The slots are also wide enough to place most bread in sideways meaning no crust sticking out of the top. yay!
