Very heavy but well made.
Sadly I had to return this as it was too heavy for me to be able to use safely. I was impressed with it and disappointed I was unable to keep. It does state in the description how much it weighed and I did put the equivalent weight onto a tray to see if I could carry it. I held the tray with both hands. That was fine and I could but when the griddle pan came I realised that I could not do it with just one hand. The vendor accepted my return which was easily done.

An excellent cast iron grill pan - great value for money
You should realise that this is a cast iron pan - so yes, it will be heavy, if you don't look after it it will rust, and you can't put it in the dishwasher. If you don't understand that first sentence, then you should avoid buying this truly excellent pan.Really, for the money this is a terrific grill pan. I've used it to cook steaks, bacon, and chicken skewers (using the pan into my Roccbox pizza oven) and I've only had it for just over a week. As it's pre-seasoned, you don't need to do the initial seasoning you usually require with cast iron, but I have made sure I dry it immediately after washing and wipe it down with some olive or rape seed oil.Comfortably big enough for 2 steaks with satisfying grill lines.Very happy.UPDATE MARCH 2023it's now 5 years since I bought the pan and it is still brilliant. Like all cast iron it now has the coating of oil and burnt on food that prevents food sticking too much, and I continue to use it both in my Roccbox and on my gas stove. This is a very solid grill pan.

Heavy duty
The pan is great however, it rust sometimes. It needs a special care.

There's a very, very faint ironny metal smell to it, but I'm making the assumption that it's because it's the first cast iron utensil I've ever owned. Anyhow, the smell doesn't transfer to the food so that's the main thing. It's heavy but, hey, that's because I've never used one before. Instructions said not to move it across my glass-topped electric cooker because it might scratch, presumably. It did when I did it without thinking but that's my fault. Food cooked quickly and well. I'm hoping to try it on a gas ring to see if there's a difference in outcome.

Excellent value & functions as it should
before first use make sure the inside of the pan is lightly covered with veg oil, makes great breakfast bacon tomatoes sausages etc tastes great, suitable for all foods that you normally grill & at a fraction of the cost as less power to heat the pan & it retains the heat so can cook on a low setting but use a higher setting initially then reduce when pan up to the required heat then add the food. Make sure you let the pan fully cool after use than pore in boiling water leave for a bit then will be easier to clean without the use of detergent this way will retain non stick effect created by the oil

If you have to fry a stake, then you need the right pan.
Like everyone, I prefer stake grilled, but when it’s more convenient to fri, then this is what you need. It’s somewhat non-stick, and heavy. I have been using it only for stakes, burgers and some veg. Not going to do burgers in it again for a while, until it’s had a chance to develop it’s natural nonstick coating through seasoning. There really are no good or bad points about this, apart from the ridges make it quite difficult to clean. I needed a cast iron skillet and it looks to be up to the task to last a lifetime, which is hopefully a good 50 plus years.I got some heat resistant handles for the pan and it helps when cooking as the handle gets quite hot through heat transfer.

Poor quality
I followed the instructions but all what I cook stick to it. It is definitely NOT non-stick. Cleaning is also dreadful and I try to avoid water as much as possible (one should use oil as far as I know) and after that anyway I put it on the gas again and warm it up to dry any residue. I have had such pans all my life but this is by far the worst. Not happy at all. Sadly now we avoid using it. I still had two of my old ones and I regret to have discarded them: even if they were very old, they were much better. They got damaged during large work with builders (kitchen extension etc).

Rugged and we'll made.
So far it's everything I expected. I didn't expect it to be as easy to clean as nonstick but with proper seasoning it's as good as cast iron can be. Quite happy with it.

Encantada
