Can't be 100% sure but strap around the chest does have to be wetted to make good contact. Add to that that fact that the body could/does get sweaty and it still works. The wrist monitor looks waterproof but I can't say what it be like if used for diving into water. I haven't tried it.

Q: Is there anyway of muting the Heart Rate beep???

It can actually be put off, I was able to. You press the 'Mode' button till the flashing 'H' appears, press the 'set' button (bottom right button), the alarm will be turned off.

Q: Just bought this, all is good but i cant work out how to save the battery and turn it on and off, any help?:)

Haven't found any way to actually switch it off but if I return to the screen which just shows the clock time and put the watch away it seems to turn itself off after a time (not sure how long that is). I use it every couple of days and when I bring it out of the drawer the screen is always blank so I have to turn it on.

I m sorry, but because I ve had no call for one I ve not looked. Not very helpful I m afraid, but if you want a simple watch that will tell you how many calories you ve burnt that day its brill. Its no singing & dancing Garmin or Polar, but it does the job for me.
