Quixx Headlight Restoration Kit Black

I chose this product over the 3M version as it was half the price with equally good reviews, although it seems to be 2nd most popular after 3M. I followed the instructions to the letter and they were fairly straightforward to apply. I used plenty of water via a hose pipe where water is required for the sanding which is the only improvisation I used.Each headlight took me around 45 minutes from start to finish, with the first stage sanding taking off most of the matt patches and yellow colouring of the acrylic. Subsequent sanding with the finer grade sandpapers further improves the finish, and the cutting cream applied towards the end gives it a gleaming polished shine. It includes a bottle of UV treatment which is like liquid wax and smells like coconut which is suppose to protect it from harmful UV rays of the sun and they recommend you apply every 3 months.Having studied the reviews, especially the bad ones, I don't understand how it did not work for some people as I thought it worked so well on my car. I assume for the customers it didn't work for, the instructions were not followed properly or the headlights were in very bad condition and beyond repair.Also by my estimation I have used about one third of the kit so in theory the remaining kit has enough application for another couple of pairs of headlights. I am extremely happy with the final results and my headlight actually look brand new. I have sat there studying the finished article and admiring my own work - completely astonished.

My 2005 Impreza WRX STI had an advisory on the previous MOT regarding the light output from the headlights. After seeing the cost of replacement headlights, I decided a restoration kit was a good alternative and this kit did a good job of restoring them. The instructions are very easy to follow and the included sandpaper is more than enough to do 2 headlights (remember and purchase some car body masking tape for the panels around the lights when sanding). From start to finish, it was about an hours work but it made a big initial difference. You could see the sandpaper taking the yellow of the headlight. I was very impressed! The lights were much clearer and no advisory on the new MOT for light output! Unfortunately, I have noticed the headlights have a slight yellow haze again (nowhere near as bad as before though) after just a couple of months and this is with me using the sealer every few weeks as instructed. I have bought another kit to repeat the process again as I think this is what it needs. For the money and if it gets your car through an MOT then it’s worth it. Also, it makes a big visual impact too which is nice. Definitely worth a try.

The claims made by this type of product are so often complete fabrication that it's refreshing to find one that isn't. In the case of "Quixx QHRK1 Headlight Restoration Kit", the claims on the packaging are perhaps a little exaggerated given the contents the kit supplied, but for really badly affected headlights the method works and the results are obtainable by expanding the kit slightly.I was very encouraged having seen the before and after pictures on the packaging. The before image matched the state of the headlights of my 15 year old Honda Accord almost perfectly (see attached photos).Starting on the right hand lens I first tried using the just scratch remover paste and was disappointed to find it made the state worse. The paste had dried and exaggerated the crazing - however it did highlight the problem well! My second attempt was to use the supplied wet and dry paper as per instructions. An hour and a half later the results were better but nowhere near the clarity claimed and some obvious crazing and haze. The results of my third attempt were close enough to the after images claimed to be possible that I decided to write this review. Unfortunately after nearly five hours the light was fading, my arm was aching and I desperately needed a break. So I took the before pictures of the second headlight and started again in the morning. The following additional instructions are what I would give if your headlights are in as really bad a state. If less hazed then the kit should suffice as is; my advice would be to try it and only resort to coarser grade paper if necessary, but also to be assured that use of coarser grade paper will not result in damage (just takes a lot longer).Obtain some coarse grade wet and dry to cut through the crazing I used 600 and 1000 grit from a bundle bought through Amazon ("Wet and Dry Sandpaper Mixed Grits 240/600/1000/1500/2000 10 sheets 2 per grit 230 x 280mm Waterproof Paper Highest Quality STARCKE MATADOR").Expect to spend about 3 hours per headlight and start with the 600 grit paper and work down through to the supplied 5000 grit using the method described in the kits instructions. Use of the 600 grit (in horizontal strokes) will take at least half the time, the 1000 grit (vertical strokes) a quarter of the time and so on. Don't rush and remember to use plenty of water.At each stage, and two or three times during use of the 600 grit, wash the headlight and dry thoroughly to inspect the state so far. The aim is to remove all crazing/haze with the 600 grit, after that the aim is to remove all marks from the previous phase. It is well worth spending time to inspect the lens closely at each phase and only move to the next grit when completely satisfied. When rubbing down using the 600 grit there will be a lot of white debris produced but this will diminish as all the crazing is removed, eventually this will reduce down to almost nothing. The result after drying will be a uniform haze over the entire lens, with no sign of any crazing. When wet the result gives a glimpse of the end result.Finally, after rubbing down and working through all grades of wet and dry, then using the scratch remover and applying the lens sealer hopefully your lens will look like mine. Indistinguishable from new!

Three Stars is the best I could give this product. The materials are fine in themselves and they do work, but it's the size of them that's the problem. See the photo. She sanding pad (sponge) which is used to hold the wet and dry sanding paper is only an inch an a half long and half an inch square. Meanwhile the wet and dry pads are only 3inch by an inch an a half. These items need to be about 4 times the size in order to be weilded and used effectively, unless you have hands the size of a five year old. This product worked but it was laborious and painstaking and sore on the hands. I reverted to laying the sanding pads flat on the headlight (not using the pad) and working them with three fingers while wearing a rubberised gardening glove to get the grip. This is a shame, as for a matter of a few pence the manufacturer could have provide much better sized materials, and saved me a lot of grief. It was so annoying, that I nearly gave only 2 stars. Next time I will simply source the component parts of the kit.

Was a little skeptical about this product as I wasn't sure that it would work.Our car failed it's MOT last year due to badly "frosted" headlights - managed to get it through by using the "toothpaste" method (which worked surprisingly well) but it scraped through with an advisory warning on the test.MOT time has rolled around again and the headlights were looking frosted and yellow once again.Bought this product as it had good reviews and was far cheaper than shelling out for a new set of headlights for the car.All I can say is - I am very impressed. The kit cleaned up the lenses and they are now looking (almost) as good as new.The kit contained 3 grades of wet/dry sand paper of varying coarseness which, I assume, takes the top layer off of the lens - each grade only took a couple of minutes of gentle rubbing before a difference was noticed.Then the polishing paste is applied. Finally, the sealing spray is added (which smells lovely - like suntan lotion. Not that has a bearing on the effectiveness of the product).All in all, it took me about 10 minutes and very little elbow grease per lens to bring them up clear and sparkling! It would have taken longer to remove the headlights if I were replacing them!I understand that Quixx also do a paintwork scratch remover which I am eager to try on a couple of bodywork marks.I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Full marks!

This is my 09 plate Seat Altea which had really badly clouded headlights. Not only that but there were areas of micro crazing too. Having had previous experience of polishing glassfibre I reckoned that starting with 2000 grit abrasive just wasn’t going to cut through the damage so I pre treated with 600 grit wet or dry until all traces of damage had gone. Then removed the 600 grit scratches with 1200 grit.When the kit arrived I was straight out to the car and was surprised at how quickly the supplied grades of wet or dry removed the scratches from the previous grade. Even before using the cutting compound (plastic polish) I could see the improvement. A vigorous rub with the polish and the surface was gleaming. The sealer gave it extra shine and water repellant properties.Highly recommend this kit. There was plenty of materials including cloths for polishing and sealing and the results speak for themselves. Unfortunately I didn’t take before photos but in one you can see the result of 600/1200 grit which is where the kit took over. The second photo of a single headlight was taken before the sealant was applied.

I had never tried this method before and read a number of reviews before deciding to give this product a try - and I'm pleased with the outcome. It took about 3 hours to do up both lamps on my Saab (but I wasn't exactly rushing either..) and the result is definitely satisfactory, especially considering it was all done by hand and no power drill or buffing wheel was involved.All the parts needed were included and there was plenty of product (polish and sealant) in the bottles for both lamps. Probably enough for two treatments. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.The only reason I won't give it 5 stars is that the included sanding paper and sanding block is too tiny. As another reviewer has pointed out, they are more suited to the hands of a 5-year old and that puts a lot of strain on your fingers. The manufacturer should make things a little bit bigger and more easy to use. Most 5-year olds don't buff car headlamps and most grown men don't have such tiny fingers!I would recommend this product for lightly faded lamps - mine was somewhere 'in the middle' so to speak, which is why I had to put so much time into it too. For more yellowed/faded lamps I'd have to recommend using a power drill and buffing wheel instead, which I will be doing next time. It will shorten the time and the workload a lot.But for what it's supposed to do and how well it works, I have no problem recommending this product for a quick resoration of your headlamps. It really does a very good job if you take your time and work thoroughly!

great kit did very good job on my 20 year old cars headlamp lenses, they were very dull and yellowy, followed instructions used in turn the grit sandpaper polish and finally the sealer, took 2 hours or so hard work, lenses look much better clear and silvery ,especially drivers side one, not quite new look, but much improved, far better kit than the one tried few years ago,, which did clear the lenses quite well ,ONLY complaint is the sandpaper sizes far too SMALL,, not large enough to get around the little sanding block, so made it difficult to maintain the pressure on the lenses as I have large hands, ended up not using the block just the sandpaper to lens, I THINK if much larger sandpaper pieces I COULD have ended upwith lenses looking like NEW, come on QUIXX

Uno de los faros de mi coche estaba completamente empañado (solo uno, raro, ¿no?), tanto que en la última ITV me pusieron falta leve... Así que me puse a buscar un método para devolverle la transparencia. Tras buscar, y descartando llevarlo a un taller (demasiado caro) me decidí por este kit de restauración.Su uso es muy sencillo y viene muy bien explicado en las instrucciones. Se lija y pule el faro, y después se pone un sellador para mantener la transparencia. Es cierto, como comenta algún otro comprador, que los trozos de lija son excesivamente pequeños... Pero es un factor "perdonable" por los resultados que se obtienen. En cuanto a que en pocos meses empieza a empañarse de nuevo, en las instrucciones especifica que cada cierto tiempo hay que volver a sellar el faro para evitar el empañado. Viene suficiente producto para poder hacerlo varias veces (no como en otros kits, que solo viene para una aplicación), por lo que en ese sentido también es una buena compra, puesto que te garantiza el buen estado de tus faros durante mucho tiempo con una sola compra.Totalmente recomendable.

I had my car registration rejected cause the headlights were foggy. I did not have the time to search for a specialized garage and did not want to go through the inconvenience and cost of leaving my car and coming back the day after for a not guaranteed result so I purchased that and gave it a try. Everything was there, including detailed instructions in several languages. The only thing you need is a bucket with water and tape to protect the paint of your car. The process is not so long and takes about 30 minutes. You can really see the difference right after. I returned my car for the inspection and it passed it.

Fazit vorab - funktioniert wirklich, ehrlich, super!Bei meinem 10 Jahre alten Auto wurden die oberen Bereiche der Scheinwerfer regelrecht rissig, nicht bloß trübe, man konnte regelrecht spinnennetzartige Eintrübungen erkennen. Sah wirklich nicht schön aus.Auf einen Spitzentipp irgendwo im Internet hab ichs mit Autolackpolitur für stumpfe Lacke versucht. Erstaunlicherweise hatte das weit mehr Effekt als gedacht, hat das Problem aber nicht beseitigt.Da neue Scheinwerfer (Xenon) ein "Heidengeld" kosten hab ich dann schließlich dieses Set probiert - mit wirklich unglaublichem Ergebnis - die Scheinwerfer sind klar - fast wie neu.Warum fast - weil ich vorsichtig war. Da nur die oberen Seiten betroffen waren habe ich mich darauf konzentriert. 2000er, 3000er, 5000er Schleifpapier angewendet. Bis dahin dachte ich der Rest der Scheinwerfer sei noch super. Politur dann über den kompletten Scheinwerfer.Das hat nun nichts kaputt gemacht, im Vergleich sieht man nun bei genauem Hinschauen die vielen kleinen Steinschläge im mittleren und unteren Bereich wohingegen die oberen Seiten wie neu strahlen. Das ist nun nicht schlimm - wenn ichs nochmal machen würde, dann ganz klar die kompletten Scheinwerfer und nicht nur Teile. Das macht keinen wesentliche größeren Aufwand, dann wird's aber wirklich perfekt.Man muss sich auch bewusst sein - weiß man dann halt nachher - dass die eigentliche Wiederherstellung mit dem gröbsten Schleifpapier erzielt wird. Wer hier nicht genug abträgt macht alles folgende dann eben nochmal. Alles nach dem gröbsten Schleifpapier dient nur noch dazu wieder volle Transparenz zu erzeugen - und das klappt tatsächlich in Perfektion - man muss halt ordentlich rubbeln... Gelingt aber durchaus auch ohne Maschinen. Ne Stunde pro Scheinwerfer sollte man wohl rechnen.Also - funktioniert tatsächlich.Tut euch einen Gefallen und schleift den ganzen Scheinwerfer, nicht nur Teile.Und: keine Hemmungen mit dem "groben" Schleifpapier - hiermit erledigt man die Restauration, die Schritte danach machen es lediglich wieder durchsichtig - was man mit dem groben 2000er Schleifpapier nicht wegschmirgelt bleibt erhalten.
