This product makes obtaining a laser distance tape measure possible for DIYers and hobbyists like me who cannot justify buying the more expensive brands such as Leica or Bosch. It is easy to use and comes with plenty of functions such as calculating areas and volumes within the unit. Units are easy to switch between and there are multiple options for the display of both metric and imperial units. Other options and features which are useful are the ability to change the zero point and a tripod mount.I tested the calibration of the unit against a baseline established using a steel measuring tape. The unit measured longer distances (>5m) accurately but I found there was an error of 1cm when measuring smaller distances. The readings from instruments of this nature should always be treated with caution and they shouldn't be used for high accuracy work where accuracy of less than 1cm is required. However, it is a good unit for getting accurate enough dimensions for estimating purposes or measuring up say the inside of a house or a garden.I would recommend this product but would recommend that caution is exercised when accuracy of measuring is a concern.

Accurate to 1-2 mm, which is better than I can do with a tape measure, not least over long distances. I once had an ultrasonic distance meter, and it was all over the place; not being able to accurately determine where the reflected sound came from. This laser meter gives you the distance to EXACTLY where the laser points and offers a number of built-in calculations to boot.I was curious as to how it does it - surely measuring the TIME it takes for light to travel back and forth over such small distances with any accuracy would be a bit of a challange for a £25 instrument. So I found out it does it by measuring the PHASE difference between the transmitted and received signals.That made sense to me, and thus reassured (and after several tests, indoors and out, and over short and long distances) I ordered a second meter for my other home. As further reassurance, the two instruments give results within 1 mm of each other.

Everything as advertised. Very happy with product. But weirdly I just received an a post-sale email from the seller containing a protracted racist joke followed by a request to review this...?! And so I am reviewing this whilst noting to the amazon community that they just sent me (for no apparent reason) a joke about a middle eastern man having sex with animals so long as he can catch them. Which is of course, totally bizarre, irrelevant and arguably inappropriate. But hey ho. It's an odd world after all.

Seems to be ok.But after a couple of months a bubble has appeared in one corner.Quite a large bubble at that.So will have to replace it before long.And I cleaned the screen thoroughly, just in case anyone thinks it could be the reason.

Used for my job measures within +/- 5mm as instruction - I have used it over 30meters and down to 400mm and I'm very impressed.If this is used on a regular basis as I do its an essential part of my tool kit,otherwise use a tape measure for the cost.The item comes in a black nylon pouch - with batteries included- a large well lit screen with light if rrequired ,clear instructions on how to use and buttons with id on them easy to set up and start measuring in mm- feet n inches also does Hypotenuse if required its a quality product I recommend at a good price.

Few days from purchase. Item arrived on time, works as expected. Good to give 5 stars, but 4 stars because the buttons looks made of rubber like soft material not solid plastic. They won’t survive clicks as plastic solid buttons from my past experience. Otherwise product is great, packed with features. Comes with a perfect fit case and strap. A good VFM

Very nice bit of kit. There are a lot of clones like this - I looked at dozens before buying. This one works well and feels robust and professional. The buttons push down neatly with a click. The plastic case is strong and grippy. It has all the functions, and it is worth reading the booklet. You can get the same model at 60m and 80m, at a higher price; and you can pay many times more for an old-school make like Bosch; but this is excellent. The only slight annoyance is the beep, which you can't turn off. But I've got used to that.

This broke after being in storage for 1 month. Tried new batteries. The display lights up with all chars displayed. The amazon listing is now for a different product even though the reviews are all for the laser distance measure tool. Won't be buying "TACKlife" again.
