Works wonders
It stores ALL of my games on Steam! Loading times are negligibly slower than an SSD, to the point where it's pretty much useless storing your games on an SSD which is more expensive per GB.Of course it's a hard drive and it has its limitations. If you intent to use this with tasks that require frequent read/writes of small data it can be very slow. I would recommend a hard drive for its cheap price per GB and large capacity. I recommend using it as a secondary drive, to accompany a faster medium that holds Windows and other small software. But... 3TB for this price is great and it's reliable.

Great storage size but it can be loud sometimes [8TB model]
Great storage and no issues after using this for about 4 months (unlike previous Seagate disks I've used). It can get very audible during boot, defrag or if running jobs/apps with heavy reads/rights. As advice though, if you're using this in a desktop and copying a lot of data too it you'll find it's about 95% fragmented after copying - a boot-time defrag is then needed and with the 3-4TB I copied to it that took all night and most of the next day, with further defrags still needed after. Doing this reduced some (but far from all) of the load noises which were obviously from the need to read/write to too many disparate segments. Hope this helps someone!

The product arrived fast, without a box, screws or cables but I had all those from my motherboard already, it arrived with no box but was in an anti static bag which was unopened and wrapped in a more than generous amount of bubble wrap and was tightly packed in fact there was so much bubble wrap if there is a shortage in the country anytime soon I could tell you why.The hard drive installed easily and only needed to be initialised and given a drive letter once installed.

Hard Drive.
I was a little cautious having read a couple of slightly negative reviews but I need not have been concerned. The drive was not initially seen by Windows 10 but after a little introduction it was fine. I carried out a surface check and the drive passed 100%. After partitioning into 2, 2TB drives I have loaded it up as a windows backup drive and a photo storage drive. All very smoothly done and no issues. Very pleased. I may now buy another 2TB drive to replace the ageing system drive. Good price for a good sized drive. All I need to do now is see how it lasts.

Good quality HDD
Needed some more storage and I've been using seagate for years so picked this up for a good price. The drive is a bit thinner then my last one but still the same excellent quality and decent speed for a mechanical drive. Ticked all of the boxes for me. Arrived in an anti static bag inside a padded envelope which was enough to protect it. Been using it a few months now and it's running well with no issues.

Great Drive Seagate Barracuda 3TB lll ST3000DM008
I have not had this long, so can't state the longevity; but I have had similar from Seagate and they are still going strong after two years of constant use.I haven't made any technical measurements, but the write speed is very good on this unit as compared to my two year old drive. I'm getting around 135 mb per sec'. So I'm happy at that. I have had fast write, but it obviously depends on the file type you're copying.I would buy another.

Another Failure!
Having already had a 6Tb Barracuda fail straight away, I was staggered when another new Seagate drive failed. This one (8TB Barracuda Pro) also failed with more or less its first proper use. Having initialised the drive with a GPT partition table and created a partition, I tried to install some software into it. The drive was recognised, and I was able to create the target folder for the installation, but the actual process stalled before completion. I eventually aborted the installation and tested the drive with Seagate's SeaTools software - it failed both the tests I tried! I didn't remove the drive at this point, but restarted Windows 10. It took an age to shutdown, and when the machine rebooted there was a warning from the BIOS that the disk was likely to fail imminently.I removed it from the machine and put it in an enclosure so that I could run tests on it from another machine (using Linux smartmontools), and they simply confirmed what I'd already learned. My new computer build had Windows 10 running extremely badly, to the extent I was resigned to doing a reinstallation, but I now know that the problems were all due to hard drive failures (Windows was actually installed on a M.2 drive, which had no issues). Having swapped out my shiny new Seagate drives for some old hard drives I was no longer using, everything runs like a dream (I just have older hardware and less storage).Needless to say, this drive is scheduled for return and a refund. I'll use the money to buy a replacement, but I don't think it will be one made by Seagate.
