Great device for it's cost, and especially for streaming PS3 games
i got this HDMI splitter as i needed something somewhat cheep, to split a HDCP signal so i could use HDMI to my external capture card with a ps3. i was delaying on the review until i got a second box, a HDMI Switcher, because the cost of a HDMI matrix that may not even fulfil my needs is a terrible investment for now. because of this, please take into account that if you do NOT need a HDMI switcher, any criticisms that are caused from both devices working together will be show with a star (*) and should be ignored.the goodrelatively inexpensivevery simple setupsomewhat discrete sizerelatively lightweightthe badrequires external power (comes with a USB to barrel power cable)no inbuilt mounting tabsAudio can be dropped when using a switcher, and if it does drop both outputs will get no sound. can be fixed via changing inputs on the switcher back and forth(*)relatively lightweightthe uglymounting on a wall or other location requires an external solutioni really like this product. it works great, but the lack of inbuilt mounting tabs for a wall, for example, mean that wire routing can become a issue. this is also the case from the lightweight-ness of the box. if it was wall mounted, the lack of weight is a massive bonus, however when it's on a table even slight movements of a wire can move the entire device, and can partially nudge the well fitting output wires just enough to cause HDMI signal loss. the device also seems to have no noticeable delay. it's more than possible to play video games with it.for the cost, it's worth it, especially for the HDCP stripping which is needed for some applications on specific HDMI devices, such as a PS3. some TVs apparently have problems when the HDCP gets stripped, however i cannot test that myself, but it should still be noted. not a problem with the device itself, but with HDCP in general.

HDMI Splitter with Humax HDR FOX T2 - Cure for GREEN SCREEN OF DEATH
After months of reading many different forums about the dreaded 'Green Screen of Death' that randomly existed with the Humax HDR-FOX-T2 when connected via HDMI, I was getting conflicting information about the HDMI cable being at fault, then the HDMI connector on the Humax or the TV. Both Samsung and Humax were blaming each other for the fault, yet neither would get the problem resolved with a firmware update. I was particularly disheartened when I'd purchased a top of the range Samsung TV from their new 2015 SUHD range, that the Green Screen was still showing and making me very frustrated. I then decided to learn a bit more about HDMI and what caused the Green Screen to appear, which basically meant that each device connected via HDMI must be HDCP compliant, which is a copy protection protocol to enable these devices to work with each other. Somehow, my TV would not display a picture with sound from the Humax as it kept failing the handshake process.I then learned about HDMI splitters that would bypass the HDCP in order to sucessfully handshake and display the video and sound correctly. So now I came across this little device which I thought would be too good to be true. Other similar devices can be purchased from Maplin or Argos for £30-£40, so if this didn't cure my problem, I haven't lost anything really. I ordered the device last Wednesday and it arrived the following Monday. I turned everything off at the mains wall socket for about 15 minutes or so as this was one of the many recommendations for overcoming a Green Screen. I then connected the output of my Humax to the single Input of the HDMI splitter, then another cable from the HDMI1 output of the splitter to one of the inputs of the TV. I then switched on the TV first, then the Humax and selected the correct source input on the TV..........drum roll.........SUCESS!!!!! Absolutely brilliant, it really worked!!This little box of magic is FANTASTIC, so happy and the product is well made with a UK power supply, although I am guessing this is used to power the automatic switching if you are using both outputs on the splitter, e.g. to two TVs, or a TV and a capture device as used by a majority of users. The thing that I don't understand is that no one in the many Humax forums had not suggested using a device like this to overcome the Green Screen problem that plagues everyone's lives and still does.So if anyone has a similar problem, buy this and you won't be disappoined. I used two decent quality cables from CSL which are 1.4a to 2.0 compliant cables which can be purchased from Amazon.
