The real intent of the framers of the Constitution.
Joseph Story spent three decades on the Supreme Court, much of it with Chief Justice John Marshall. Story was a younger contemporary of many who were involved with shaping the new Constitution. He starts by detailing the shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation, and how the Constitutional Conventions became necessary. He goes through each article of the new Constitution explaining why it was written as it was, and the thought behind it. Can you believe than many thought the Bill of Rights was unnecessary or redundant because those elements were already implied in the original document? Story clearly explains the reasoning behind the Second Amendment, and the idea of separation of church and state. He also recommends how the Constitution should be, and was intended to be, interpreted,This book was written as a high school textbook, and an expanded version was written as a college textbook. It's unfortunate that it is not required reading in all our schools today.

Concise & Captivating
Very clean and clear crisp pages with all of the important sections of Story's writings. Pages have enough margin space for notes. Paper is of good quality with minimal bleed through from highlight markers.

A reference book for all generations of Americans
You want to know the original intent of the United States Constitution then read this well known commentary, and the Federalist papers. Rely on the eyewitnesses who were there when the US Constitution was written! This book should be read by every American voter so that they know the supreme law of the land, the United States Constitution. It is a heirloom book that should be passed on to every generation so that we will never forget the blessings of our Constitutional Republic.America's Constitutional Republic is designed to protect our God-given freedom but when people are ignorant they are easily manipulated and willing to give up their freedom to dictators. This is why every generation must know the Declaration of Independence (our vision) and the Constitution (our mission) which is the framework to protect America's way of life.... Freedom. The Unites States Constitutional Republic is the longest lasting in world history and is worth keeping!Don't ever let anyone ever tell you that Freedom is out of style.. Some things should never change. You want to stand out as a real hero? Protect and defend America's Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution for the the sake of your family, friends, and future generations. Deliver up to future generations the land of liberty that has been such a blessing to you.

Just Beautiful!
What a great book to inform how this Great country was developed. So very sad how schools, the news media and liberals wish to tear it down. Most have no idea what they have and why millions try to flock into our boarders. We must know our history and preserve our rights before the are stolen from us and it is too late. God Bless America!

Brilliant book from a brilliant mind.

Simple, brilliant, integral.
Story's father was a participant in the Boston Tea Party. Story himself was a Supreme Court Justice appointed by ("Father of the Constitution") James Madison. His opinion was almost always (over 90% of the time) the majority opinion of the court. He was a founder of Harvard Law School (where one will find a statue of him). He wrote the first treatise explaining the meaning of the U.S. Constitution, clause by clause, and is considered a pivotal patriarch in American jurisprudence. Why should that matter to you? As someone who's been perusing Story's writings, and quoting them for years, I can tell you Story completely obliterates the "modern" secular leftist interpretations of the First and Second Amendments. The reason leftists never mention Story is obvious; he utterly and unequivocally refutes core pillars of their revisionist historical and Constitutional mythos. (Showing how truly radical and totalitarian they've become, as even federalists like Story would be shocked at the scope of present day federal power.) His works should be required reading for all American citizens.
