Luxtronic 16-Gauge Clear Speaker Wire / 100-ft.

Acceptable, but not what I anticipated.
This wire looks to be well made enough, and I guesstimate it would perform adequately in runs of 35 feet or less for speakers with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms or more. I ran a side by side listening test with an 8 ft length of 14AWG OFC wire on the right speaker and 8-ft of this wire on the left one (Klipsch 6" MTM set) and could not detect any difference in sound quality from either speaker. The stereo separation seemed perfectly balanced; the sound stage remaining completely centered throughout, and as wide as it ever is with 14AWG OFC running to the same speakers. Although my stereo setup falls a tad short of being true audiophile quality, it's a good sounding system with which I frequently enjoy listening to my diverse collection of music for hours on end, hence I consider this to be a valid test for my purposes. That said, there are a few minor things about this wire which I found to be sadly disappointing.Firstly, I was misled by a question response from Systems Enterprises SELLER on March 22, 2015, "This product is made of 99.9% copper [etc., etc,.]". Since that (question) was over 3 years ago, maybe the product has been changed and they, duh ... just "forgot" to update (yeah, right!) Nevertheless, the wire I received isn't pure copper wire at all, it's copper clad aluminum wire, aka CCAW or CCA. How do I know this? Copper wire doesn't change color when the strands are scrapedโthat's how.Secondly, this wire seems to have an atypically thick insulation but the bare wire, on the other hand, measured only 0.041 inch in diameter (using a Mitutoyo dial caliper) which makes it closer to 17AWG (technically 16AWG is 0.0508", while 17AWG is 0.0453"). Another brand of 16AWG CCAW I measured the same way was almost right on the mark at 0.051". No doubt my measurements weren't 100% accurate, but certainly close enough to see a 0.010 inch discrepancy between two brands of speaker wire both rated 16AWG. To me that's a lot! Some difference even being perceptible with the naked eye. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.Lastly, the Luxtronic wire I received bears only a slight resemblance (it is speaker wire) to the picture of the spool of Prolink 12AWG Speaker Cable posted at the top of the product page. The picture which supposedly represents this product. Deceptive! (It's kinda like meeting your soul mate [I'm really into wire you see.] online but you don't recognize them in person. Ruh-roh!)UPDATE:Decided to take a pic with my aged Canon camera (don't know if it will be big enough to see), and the readings are slightly different than the first try, but enough to illustrate the difference between this 16ga wire and another brand of 16ga wire. For whatever it's worth.

WORKS AND LOOKS GREAT
I wouldn't spend more money on speaker wire unless you're building a top-of-the-line competition system

What is this wire made of?
So I purchased this late night for I wanted oxygen free solid copper. Amazing price for 250 feet right? Well while this company promotes its "oxygen Free",...there is nothing to say what the "polarized conducting" material is in any of the advertising. How/why would they leave that out?!?!? So either the advertising dept of the firm is completely incompetent to forget to say this is copper wire. OR the advertising in trying as hard as they can to SOUND LIKE copper speaker wire. Which would be a total con in my books. I will use this "Oxygen Free Polarized Conductors" speaker wire for speakers in my garage and marvel at the great deal I got. Buyer beware of "Oxygen Free " advertising.

Well worth the money as it is great quality for a better sound!
I used this for a home theater setup and am pleased with the results. The wire is much thicker than the standard junk that came with my speakers and the thick coating will ensure a long life. It costs a little more but it is comparable or better priced to similar gauged wire.

Great value
Heavy gauge wire, thick insulation and a great price means a good value by my standards. I used it for 6-8 foot runs for car stereo's so I don't know about long distance sound quality.

Good coating. delivering the power I need. Not sure on AWG
Speaker wire arrived on time on a spool. My spool was blue though. The coating on this wire is really good and doesn't just rip apart. I am no electrician but I don't think this is 12 AWG. Idk may be a little small but works great for my sub and house speakers. Would buy again as long as I don't find out its CCA junk lol

Great value
Im not a hard core audiophile but i do enjoy my music to sound good. I have klipsh towers, sub, surrounds, polk center and a marantz receiver. The sound is just shy of being there in person and ill blame thwt on two very noisy parrots. Its wire. It works.
