Fun and silly Coronation tie in for the Mr Men and Little Miss
The new king is making a tour of the Mr Men and Little Miss and they are all very excited. All the various lands are making sure that they’re prepared, cleaning and polishing and preparing parades and even a special banquet. But because this is the Mr Men and the Little Miss, not everything is going to go as planned and the new king may find that he gets a little more than he bargained for on his tour …Based on his father Roger Hargreaves’s LITTLE MISS and MR MEN SERIES, Adam Hargreaves’s self-illustrated picture book is a fun tie in with the coronation of King Charles III (even if the king in the book is never named) with the Mr Men and Little Miss doing their usual silly antics. It’s particularly fun to see the various Mr Men and Little Miss lands and I think the king would enjoy seeing himself having fun with them all.A lot of the fun in this book comes from seeing how the various Mr Men and Little Miss prepare for the king’s visit. There’s all the silliness that you would normally expect - I particularly liked how everyone in Nonsenseland painted everything purple and Little Miss Naughty’s trick flower. It’s quite irreverent in respect of the king but it shows him being a good sport and going along with all the nonsense and none of what happens to him is mean spirited. If you’re looking for a Coronation tie-in to read along with your younger reader, then this is one of the better ones.

A right royal laugh! Perfect for everybody.
My partner and I head a family that has four children. Our children range in age from 22 down to 5 and throughout the years we have come to love and cherish our significant Mr Men book library, which has been handed down from our very first child right through to our youngest, who is still very much enjoying the stories to present day. Some books have always been better than others and each family member has their own favourite character/s. This latest iteration offers a lighthearted and comical approach to a royal visit. We timed the giving of our book to coincide with Kings Coronation and I am happy to say that it went down a right royal treat! The books themselves are laid out in the traditional Mr Men format with the same colourful and familiar characters you will be used to seeing across the series. This particular book focuses on the preparation and subsequent royal visit from the King and has been well thought out and written. The pages and characters are engaging and there is a vast array of your favourite Mr Men characters represented throughout the story. The accompanying pictures are the usual bright, cheery and eye catching ones as they usually are, and attention to additional fun details within each picture keeps your little ones attention drawn to the pages. There is always so much to look at and the pictures really do help bring the story to life in the way only a Mr Men book can. It’s a terrific story for bedtime, or anytime reading, and provokes thought, questions and response from your child.I would be more than happy to recommend the Mr Men series to anyone and I cannot find faut with this particular book at all. My hats off to the publisher’s for once again managing to add an up to date and modern take with our new King, but still managing to stay true to form and using the time honoured and classic Mr Men characters. What a great way to facilitate engagement. I see this book as being hugely successful. Another jolly good read. Simply brilliant!
