A compromising size for windy and smaller areas
I am in sunny and salty, coastal Puerto Rico, and up on a hillside and often windy location. I chose this size over the larger sizes available. I made this choice to help reduce the chances of this clothesline being damaged during unseen and damaging strong gusts or winds, like when i’m away from home and clothes are on the lines. This size also fits better in this particularly small back patio area.I am placing this clothesline inside a 1 1/2” thick pvc tube i also use for a fabric patio umbrella that provides shading when desired. The pvc tube is attached securely to the side of the raised patio. The clothesline does not need to be in the ground.I appreciate the convenience of just walking barefoot on the patio rugs to dry clothes. I can also more likely grab clothes off the line quickly when unexpected rain showers show up. It is just 15 feet from the back door.I will frequently check for rust on the pole, and when rust begins to inevitably show up, i will just remove it and paint the area with marine paint. Right now, i don’t know yet for sure where the pole will rust. Maybe i will just paint the entire pole with protective marine paint now.A FYI: There were some stinging fire ants on the patio, so i dusted them with fire ant killing powder. That’s why there is white powder seen in the photos. They found one of my dog’s treats on the patio.

Great Clothesline
I love my clothesline. I have been using it over a year and it still works great. I have a lot of rock in my yard. I couldn't put it in the ground. I did put it in an old tire with lots of concrete. It has never fallen over. It holds so many clothes. I would definitely buy again.

much better than 35-foot lines
I used to mow for a neighbor with a rotary drying rack. The pipe in the ground was flush with the surface, so there was no obstruction if I moved the rack. That was easier than mowing around. The wife was about 90. She could set up a small table and use that rack a lot quicker than I could walk along my fixed lines with a basket and clothes pins (not to mention the bending). My lines could be hazardous after dark, so each time I dried laundry, I’d coil them. The posts were set in concrete, but I still had to plumb them annually.I waited 20 years to upgrade. I put a board on the top of the stake pipe and drove it with a sledge hammer. I kept it plumb by checking with a level. I drove it flush the surface. Besides keeping it from being a hazard for mowing or walking, this gives it the most support from the soil. The height is good for a tall person. It could be installed at a custom height by sawing as much as 21 inches from the bottom section of the mast.I stow mine under the eaves of the garage. Besides leaving my lawn unobstructed, this keeps it out of the rain, sun, and wind.Mine wasn’t laced right. Relacing a single line 131 feet long was a hassle. In the future, I’ll replace one lap at a time, as needed. A large washer load takes only 32 feet of line. That means I have four times more than I expect to need. I may remove every other lap. With more space between the lines, it should be easier to use, and clothes may dry better on windless days.I found the supplied clothespin bag a nuisance to hang and a nuisance to reach into. A holder cut from a bleach bottle with a hook bent from a coat hanger is more efficient. When I want to set up the rack, the hole could be hard to find in the grass, and it could fill with dirt. The rack came with a plastic cap to prevent damage in transit. I trimmed it to make a cap for the stake pipe. I added a patch of pink duck tape to make it easy to see in the grass. In the photo, the cap is waiting to be put back on the stake pipe when I stow the rack. The cool thing about capping the stake pipe is that when a neighbor asks where your rack is, you can tell her it’s electric. When you step on the pink switch, it will rise from the ground and unfold. When you step on it and nothing happens, you tell her it must have blown another fuse. The important thing is to keep a straight face.

Easy to use and store. Love it!
I love this clothesline! It holds about 4 large full loads of laundry, so if you ever do more than that at a time the 1st loads will be dry (at least in our climate) before it is full. I have wanted a clothesline for years, since moving into our current house. We had had one at our previous home and i love the fresh air smell and how the sun keeps you white clothes so white. My husband thinks they are an eyesore and refused to have one here. Finally I saw this one and it looked easy to take down and store when not in use, so I ordered it and put it up myself. My husband now even thinks it is ok because it can be taken down so easily when not in use and even helped me out concrete around the underground pipe to post it in below ground level, then I laid the sod over the concrete once it had dried well. I put a cover over the pipe so it doesn't fill with dirt and grass etc. You can't see it unless you look for it. We mow over top of it. You'd never know it was there until you uncover it and post the clothesline, which after posting, you open just like an umbrella. When finished it closes just like an umbrella and it fits nicely in it's storage bag until the next use.
