I really wanted this to be more epic than it was
Okay I'm a big RC heli fan. Not rich enough to afford the big ones but I hate the double blade ones (2-3 channel ones) that use a generic tail rotor to move forward and back etc and wanted a legit 4+ channel heli that would fly and look great.Right out of the box the materials were flimsy to say best. The thin flex plastic seemed very uh oh to me considering this is a 100$+ rc. (Most mini rcs run about 20-40$ so I was really hoping for high quality on this)With this I still had high hopes. Before I could even fly the sucker the windshield was detached. Half it was attach the other half just dangling. This was a massive disappointment. BUT not a deal breaker cause a little glue fixed that at least at first. The first test run was terrifying. Instructions claimed already attached to remote....not the case. After syncing the puppy had a mind of its own. Would take off ...rapidly but no actual ability to make it lower the altitude. This resulted in a crash within the first 10 seconds of flight.A PLUS, this puppy took the crash pretty good. Except a cosmetic piece in the back broke instantly.More glue.Second attempt. Went a lot better. Much more open area and after gaining stabilization was able to finesse things a bit and pull off a hover. With this I was able to tweak it even more and realized no matter what the heli leaned a direction whether due to the way it was manufactured or a defect I don't know, but it didnt hover level.I did discover High and low speed had a big factor. Dont even bother in low speed. Its near useless in even still air as such. Had to be in high speed to have actual control over the thing.Flight time.....like a quick rollercoaster that gives you a thrill and wanting more. Instructions claim to just slide the canopy off but it actually snaps on and off so dont just try to slide it off you have to mess witht eh 2 prongs its hooked on. This can give you a sense of about to break it so be gentle.Battery life is maybe 5 mins at best. It really should come with an extra battery. So far after a while of regular use Its still flying but I keep feeling like for such a price there should be a bit more offered. Extra battery, replacement canopy, more than just one set of rotors replacement, etc.The startup sequence is a bit much for a small heli and can be confusing and sometimes I had to 'dislodge' the rotors to get them spinning. All in all this IS fun. Way pricey but fun. Great look to it if just a show piece but as a flying piece...lackluster. Plus if you order from the ACTUAL website its nearly 50 bucks cheaper. For the cost should be at least twice the size with more extras and repair pieces.Get if you dont care about money but be ready for a strong learning curve, NOT for beginners
