Yes, it comes with a switch on the side to do flat panels and stoppers to make the size of panel you want to make.

Is this strictly stockinette?

Yes, it is. However, you can manipulate the stockinette stitch (the end result you will get when using this machine) with the crochet hook to get some pattern. There are many websites that I found that show you how to get a variety of patterns. But, those websites are in Russian language (I am Russian). You might want to see if there are some in English (I use YouTube).

can i make a big blanket? like queen size or king size?

You can make several flat panels and seam them together to make a large blanket.

Hi there. I don't think so as my addi has over 60 teeth and it makes a round knit for a hat. There is a way to knit a flat but that won't help you. In think you would be better to purchase a specific knitter for socks
