Slow charger that should be avoided.
This is just like the original charger I got with my Samsung phone several years ago, but if I had to do all over again I would go directly to an aftermarket charger that offers more than 0.7A(mps).The speed that a wall or car charger juices up your device depends on the Output listed on the charging unit's label. The 5V or "Voltage" listed there is a USB standard, but it's the second number you want to pay particular attention to: the Amperage, signified as A or mA (milliAmp). With all other things being equal, the higher the Amperage - the faster the charge. The rub is the charger doesn't decide how much electricity to send, but rather the device itself that PULLS electricity from the AC plug or USB port. All Android-based devices will limit the energy draw to a maximum of about 500mA (or ½ of a full Amp) when connected to a USB port. Most aftermarket chargers follow the USB data standard that includes 4 "pins" within a connector - 2 for power-charging and 2 for data-transfer (meaning your device recognizes it as a USB port); whereas most OEM chargers usually have the data pins "shorted" so the device sees only charging pins, thus indicating a power-charger and allowing itself to draw the maximum current. It's fairly complicated and counter-intuitive at first, and it took me a long time to find out why my devices were charging so slowly on a supposedly fast after-market charger. This is demonstrable by the very chargers Amazon itself sells... the Amazon Kindle 9W PowerFast Adapter costs more - but you'll only get up to 1.8A output no matter which cable used since they have effectively killed the data pins on the charger; whereas they also sell the better value AmazonBasics Wall Charger with USB Outlet (2.1 Amp Output) with its higher output, but it has all 4 USB pins intact - so unless you have a specialized charging-only cable the most you will ever draw at any time from it is around 500mA. You absolutely need a good charging-only cable to take advantage of the faster speed provided by the higher output of most aftermarket chargers. With this particular Samsung OEM charger you don't have to worry about getting any specialized cables, you will always get 700mA (0.7A)... that's just not terribly fast compared to other chargers on the market. I prefer a charger to give at least 2.1A, and my favorite does 3.0A - but most of them have to be used with a specific, Charging-Only cables (See Below). If you have purchased a different aftermarket charger and wondered why it didn't seem to juice your device very fast, or just doesn't seem to be living up to its full potential - the PortaPow Specialised 5ft 24AWG Charge Only Micro USB Cable for Blackberry, Xperia, HTC One, Google Nexus, Other Fast Charging Devices is likely all you need to increase the power flow. If you don't already have a verified charging-only cable now or don't own a charger that has output of more than 700mA, I can tell you that your best bet is to purchase the AmazonBasics Wall Charger (2.1 Amp Output) in combination with the PortaPow Charge-Only Micro-USB Cable . This will give you a full charging speed of 2.1A, and you will simply be amazed how fast your device charges. There is no harm to the device because the phone or tablet will only draw as much as it can handle.

looks good - just received - updated after 1-3/4 years
I ordered on January 24, 2012 and arrived today, the 31st. It is now Sept 2013. I have about 5 of these chargers and about 4 have migrated to various friends. We keep them plugged in at several different outlets throughout the house, den and kitchen and, of course, both sides of the bed.I was a bit concerned about the mention of short cords (30 inches in one review), though I could have used a shorter one for the car. But the cord I got measured over 4 feet. About another 18 inches. I suspect longer since comes rolled up and not all kinks out, possibly 5 feet?.The connection to the phone is the best of any charger I have used so far. Snaps in firmly.I have had trouble with two previous chargers where the connector that attaches to the phone pulls loose and leaves exposed wires and the metal connector hanging loose. I will be careful with these but it looks to me like the casing at that end is much better than prior ones. After a year & 9 months, I have yet to have one of the connectors come undone on any of these! Samsung Travel Wall Charger Detachable with Micro-USB Data Cable for Cell Phones with Micro-USB Connector I posted a message about receiving the chargers to friends at 6:11. Charged the battery in my phone which was at about 75%. I was surprised at how quickly it seemed to charge. I put in the other battery at 5%. It just hit 97% charge at 9:26.I used to plug battery that is somewhat charged in when I went to sleep (8-10 hrs or so) and it might or might not be fully charged the next morning at 5 am when I wake up. I love these chargers!!

A good deal with the detachable USB/Micro USB cords
I like that this came with detachable usb/micro usb cords. I don't imagine there in expensive alone, likely almost the cost of the charger. again, I have the same problem with the wall charger that i have with the car charger This one seems to continue charging because my phone tells me to un plug it when it's charged.it's always irritating to spend more on shipping than the product costs (or the same) and you can't get more for the same shipping cost. I bought this and paid more to save on shipping and am amazed it works well. I don't know if it's really OEM because i'd think OEM would have an auto shut off, for the charger, so the phone battery does not get stressed.

Great product, but short cable
I've ordered 2 of these, about a month apart from each other. I enjoyed the first one a lot. It works, good quality, and the cable was longer than the one that came with my HTC phone (around 3 1/2 feet I believe). I ordered my second one of these to have at work and I get it and the cable this time is only 2 1/2 feet... What the??? I ordered this product from the same seller and it's the same product, but I get 2 different sized cables...If you have different length cables, this needs to be known. Like I said great product, but I am pretty disappointed by the different cables.

GOT DEFECTIVE CORD--DOESN'T WORK
First off, the cord came much later than I expected. It arrived nearly one week later than another cord I had bought on the same day on Amazon. I was optimistic when I saw the packaging and quality oF the cord looks good. But once I plugged it in my Galaxy Nexus, it didn't charge. The plug was snug but there was no charge symbol on the screen. I then tried it with my Samsung Intensity and it didn't charge either. I'm very disappointed and will definately ask for a refund.

charges super fast
I bought this in hopes of an extra usb cable that I could use in my car. Unfortunately the cable does not work when plugged into the usb dc adapter in my car. The cable works fine when plugged into an AC outlet, and connects well to the computer. For whatever reason it doesn't connect to a DC adapter.Update:I am changing my 4 star rating to 5 stars because literally this cord charges twice as fast as the original cable that came with the phone.
