Excellent. Must buy!
I received my pair on August 11th. I finished 90 miles walking last week, roughly 12 miles/day. Today I'm at 22 miles, and about to finish 26.22 to get a marathon worth in a single day.Since the 11th, 90% of that mileage was put on these shoes. They did not require any breakin for me. I've worn then only with merino wool people socks, and the level of comfort and lightness exceeds expectations.I'm concerned about the soles. Walking like this will wear out soles regardless I suppose. It seems these soles are tough relatively to speedcross 3/4/5 and alphacross, all of which I've had at least one pair of. Seems as tough soled as the XA Pro 3Ds, which are more rugged than the others mentioned. These being the GTX, they are water proof. They can be hosed off while being worn, and if you don't pour water in the top your feet stay dry. I have stood in 3-4 inches of fast flowing water, and hiked thru shallower water - my socks haven't gotten wet at all. Before these wear out, eventually, I will buy another pair - I wouldn't want to go without now that I've tried them.Update: October 20th, I have worn a hole thru the sole in the left heal. It's small and the shoes aren't unwearable, but the entire shoe looks almost in new condition while part of the sole already gave up so I'm a little disappointed. I've put down 700 miles according to Google fit since getting these shoes, most of which were on these boots but I also have worn several other shoes. I'm not sure what to make of this - maybe I'm asking too much, but I feel I should get more mileage out of the shoes.Edit: Update January 21st, added pictures to show how the soles look now. The hole in my left sole is getting considerably larger. I've already bought my next pair tho, as I said, these shoes are good. I think it's a testament to how happy I am with the shoes in fact, that for over $200, I didn't feel hesitation buying another pair half a year later after the first wore out. They gave me thousands of miles, many on sidewalks and roads, and my feet have never been happier.Edit: local cobbler has replaced the heal; they are like new again. Cost $20 to replace the heal of both shoes, to keep them even, with a quality vibrant heal tread. I will try to remember to take pictures and update again. Thrilled that these could basically last forever, on $20 life extending heals... Now that I have 2 pair, I should be set for a long time.

Brilliant!
This purchase has been a pleasant surprise. I'm always skeptical to buy shoes online, especially hiking shoes. As I get older then I've had to compromise when it comes to stiffness of sole and shoes. Less stiffness in sole often resulted to less ankle support which was not what I seek for. So I've been seeking for shoes which have decent stiffness sole which can handle tundra and rocks but as well will give me the ankle support I need in my hiking trips, but not too stiff. It seem that I've just found the right shoes for my needs. I've hiked, walked with my dog and hunted in these shoes after I purchased them, so this review is not just based on taking it out of the box and putting them on. It is based on actual use. Up today, these shoes have exceeded my expectations. Last weekend I was in harsh condition hunting rock ptarmigan and hiked over 22 km in rocky terrain in my search for pray which took more then 8 hours walk. I was really surprised how well this shoes supported my feet and after all that walk I was not sore in my feet due to the flexibility of the sole and yet, they handle every rock I step on and gave me confident grip.Pros: 100% waterproof. Very lightweight and very comfortable, needed no break in at all. Good grip in the sole. Surprisingly good ankle support for such a lightweight shoes. Shoe lays locking system is excellent. Decent sole stiffness to handle mixed hard terrain, like tundra and rocks.Cons: I've only got one complain, the shoe lays are too long. The manufacturer could shorten them about 8-10 cm.Conclusion: Excellent hiking and hunting shoes for terrain like you get in Iceland. Great ankle support, good sole grip and probably one of my best shoe online purchase for years. I highly recommend these shoes. Especially if you have like me, been experiencing problem with too stiff sole which limited the usage and distance you can travel.

Toughest hiking boots I have ever worn!
To start, I typically wear through a descent pair of hiking boots every 6 months, Iโm pretty hard on boots. However, Iโve had these boots for 18 months and theyโre still in great condition. It took me a while to break them in but now theyโre super comfortable and still have great tread and ankle support. Definitely worth the money!

Makes wet rocks, wood, or leaves feel like ice!
Stay away from this boot! Many reviews say the grip is excellent, in the wet, but I, and others, have found them to be very dangerous with terrible grip on wet surfaces. In eight days of walking, I slipped six times and fell three times despite taking extra care - and this while carrying my heavy and expensive camera gear. I'm lucky that I didn't get seriously injured though there was quite a bjt of blood on one occassion. There seems to be a manufacturing inconsistency which Salomon refuse to accept and I'm now having to use the Sale of Goods Act to get my money back.

Good quality lightweight hiking boots
Very comfortable and good quality product - I wear Salomon a lot but for some reason find them a small fit. I take a UK 12 or an EU46 in Ecco or Rockport and they fit well, for example the Saloman size for me is a 11/46 which I find small even the 11.5/46.5 is still small but the UK12/EU47.5 seems to fit well and is comfortable. Great quality products just which they would sort the sizing issues.

very robust sole, great feel
Might be my personal preference, but I do prefer a more rigid sole for dealing with more rocky paths, so these are great.I panic'd at first that they came too small as I really struggled to get in them. Once in they are a good fit, having worn them a few times they are easier to get in. Have done a few rugged climbs and decents so far in the dry and am very happy. Cannot comment on the wet yet, but they should cope fine.If I have a slight complaint and it is nitpicking... The laces dont feel to bind well, they can come undone easily. I will at some point swap those out as they are a cheap fix. The boot is exceptional.

A good fit after slight adjustment
I was a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews regarding the fit as I ordered my normal size, the only problem was with one foot having a tight fit around the joint on my big toe. I packed the boots tightly with wet newspaper to try to expand the uppers for a few days after which there was no problem at all with the fit. These are a really comfortable pair of walking shoes even after many hours of wearing the boots, brilliant in wet weather and muddy fields or walking in wooded areas off the beaten track. The high sides support the ankles even on very rough ground, walking in woods with roots and stony areas underfoot, the laces are also extra long allowing them to be looped around the tops of the boots.Great buy even though the price has fallen since I bought them.

Really chuffed
I'm new to the world of walking more than a few miles! I decided to invest in a decent pair of boots as that's what all the forums etc were telling me and chose these. I'm normally a size 10, followed the sizing chart and bought a 10.5. They fitted pretty much bang on, apart from one of my toes. I've walked about 40 miles in them so far over hills, in mud, puddles etc and they seem to have adapted to my feet as the one toe doesn't seem to touch the end any more. They are really comfortable, no leakage issues, feel really sturdy, feet haven't got sweaty and feel really supportive for my inexperienced feet and ankles. Really chuffed. I think an 11 might have been a little loose (but ok), and happy with just going 1/2 a size up.
