I frequently use a Nebula Capsule 2 projector for presentations and needed a more portable HDMI solution. This Cable Matters retractable HDMI cable has been a game changer. It's compact enough to fit neatly into my projector case alongside my charger, remote, and microphone. While I primarily use it with my 1080p projector and can't vouch for its 4K/8K capabilities, it has performed flawlessly for my needs with no issues. The build quality is solid, and the retractability is smooth and reliable. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this cable—it simplifies my setup and fits perfectly with my gear.

This is the 2nd I order (lost the 1st one). Has allways worked very well; no problems with communication or the coiling mechanism, goid fit in hdmi port. Is very convenient and usefull for connecting my laptop with the monitors I use at 3 different desk stations I work from on different days

I like to bring my own media with me on my laptop when I travel or stream from my streaming accounts. This handy little device makes connecting your laptop to a hotel TV quick and easy. It also takes up almost no space at all in your laptop bag.I have quite a few cable products from Cable Matters, and they have always been of very high quality and made very well. And this one is no exception.It extends out to just under 4 feet, which should be more than enough to reach from a hotel desk to the TV (most times the desk is right under the TV). There is not signal or image degradation from the cable and it supports 4k/8k easily.The retract/extract (open/close) process can be a little wonky sometimes, which means you may have to fiddle with opening and closing it to get it to stay put at the length you need. There is no lock, so sometimes it's finnicky. Still, 90% of the time using the cable is relatively easy with no problems. A good spring lock would make this an out-of-this-world product, though (are you listening Cable Matters?) In the end, though, this is not that big of a deal, and the cable works extremely well.Overall, this is an excellent travel HDMI cable and a good value. I'm always looking to make my travel laptop backpack more tidy. I was carrying around a standard 6' HDMI cable to use with hotel room TVs to stream video from my laptop or to occasionally use as a monitor. I jumped at the chance to try out this retractable HDMI cable.Everything worked great with the TV and laptop - plug and play, as you'd expect. The retractability is straightforward - you pull both ends to retract the cable and stop at the desired position. You pull again on both ends to retract. (Note: there are no instructions, but there is a QR code on the packaging that goes to the product page on the manufacturer's web site where the instructions are found.)I have tried other types of retractable cables in the past and the retracting mechanism always seems to fail at some point. Time will tell if this device suffers the same fate, but the build quality of the cable and the mechanism appear to be better than average.It would be nice if they had a longer version available, since 3.3 feet can be too short if you're trying to use a hotel TV as a monitor. But that would likely make this a 6 inch spool instead of 3 inches, so then you wouldn't really be saving much space. Thankfully, that is not something I need to do very often.
