Works great on the new iphone and an older lightening cable ipad.
I bought this to transfer pictures and videos from my phone but since the new iphone has the usbc plug i needed one that was versatile. I also like that since you use your own memory card with it you can use it for different purposes. I will probably end up using a couple different ones to keep the images organized. I was able to use this with a newly purchased memory card and had no issues. I tried to use it with an older one but I think that it needed to be formatted before using with this device because it wasn't showing up in the phone as a storage location.

Dash cams Format It does work
If you can't read your memory cards with the IPhone, make sure the memory cards are formatted to FAT, FAT32 or EXFAT. Any other format it may not read on the IPhone. The USB port on this was small, tight and completely useless. I tried to fix it and ended up breaking the plastic inside. It still works but not the USB side of it. The only reason why I needed this, is to use with my IPhone for reading memory chip on my dash-cam.

Worth every penny and handy 4 many situations. I would definitely recommend buying it I use it for a Playstation 4 to do a hard drive swap. since I already had a MicroSD card I could just slap it in this bad boy and then stick it inside the PlayStation and I could back up my files and then reload them and the operating system after everything was done with the SD installed. now it's going to be a USB card reader or it can be an adapter or you can put all sorts of other adapters on it I mean it's got so many different uses it's insane. Having already paid for its self with one use. Totally worth it for me and definitely helpful for other things. Computer, PlayStation, Androidand switch compatible from my test, with in reason and in need of some adapters I'm sure. Something to take note of I put a USB c converter on the end and stuck it into my phone where I was able to download the drivers for PlayStation so I imagine I could do so with many other things I say get it. A few bucks and use it once and be done or use is at your switch army knife like I'm doing. Quality lso higher than anticipated for the cost

Bought 2nd SmartQ SD reader. My friend liked my 1st one so much he kept it.
I had a friend visiting. He works in IT and needed to transfer some photographs from his digital camera. I lent him my 1st SmartQ SD card reader. He liked it so much I gave it to him.I liked it so much I have just bought my 2nd SmartQ SD card reader. Same item, same ease of use and great quality.

Great concept, weak execution
A micro SD reader with all the important plug interfaces. The combination of USB B n Lightning is very fragile in operation. It feels like it will break after a dozen uses.
