A lesson to teach and a fun craft project too.
I really liked this story about the importance of calming down and how it affects other people when you have a fit. I think the concrete visuals and fun art project will be a lesson that they never forget. Thank you Jennifer for writing this book.

Wonderful book for all ages!
Gave this book to my neice and her children -- after reading it myself, I, and many other adults could really use the advice in this book -- wish every parent would give this to their children!

This book is so cute and useful
I love this book. In my art classroom, we already have a calm down jar but this book to go with and introduce will be amazing!

A fine story and a ‘homemade addition’ for emotion control!
Author Jennifer Jones is a professional counselor and mental coach and writes children’s books that assist not only children’s learning behavioral traits, but also parents (and teachers) whose reinforcement gained from Jennifer’s books is significant!THE CALM DOWN JAR is Book 1 of her Teacher Tools and the manner in which this superb story is related and illustrated makes the concept readily accessible to children. We meet a little lad who states, ‘When I’m feeling happy, Everything is clear. I don’t worry about anything. And there’s nothing I fear.’ ‘Other feelings don’t feel so great, It makes me not feel good inside. When something is really bothering me, My emotions are harder to hide.’ That change in feelings initiates the use of the Calm Down Jar and very cleverly the author demonstrates the impact of the Jar on the lad: ‘I’m glad I have a Calm Down Jar, It helps me relax, you see. So that when I’ no longer upset, I get back to being my favorite me.’ The book ends with instructions for actually making a Calm Down Jar – a readily accessible tool for aiding children’s emotion, just like the book informs them!Excellent concept and presentation in both message and illustrations, this little book will likely become a standard in households and schools. Very highly recommended.

Great
I love the story. As someone with emotional regulation issues, and other mental issues, myself, it struck a cord with me. Though the recipe doesn't make sense at the end of the book....but I like the intention. Just google a better recipe to make one.
