Sturdy, well made, easy to install! I couldn't ask for more. It fits well with all of the other hardware I'm the catio. I don't have to worry about the cats escaping, because it latches itself easily when the door is closed.

I'm so impressed by this item. For the price, it offers a total bang for your buck. It looks really high end and works well. We used it on the front gate of our new fence. The installer had it on easily and we get to enjoy it.

This thing is really nice.For as solid as the design is,it is not truly 'universal', in that it latches 'up' with the door opening inward,and latches 'down' with the door opening outward.Not a big deal, but i would have thought the manufacturers could be clever enough to make itconvertible so that it latches the same way for both door orientations.The GL-2 version says it fits doors 3-1/2 wide.This is common for doors or gates made with 2x4s.I would have thought that would be true for the GL-1 version.It's not actually specified for the GL-1, but it doesn't fit a 2x4 width (3.5") without some modifications.I had to put some spacers in the handles so the pin didn't go all the way in.It worked but, for those of you with gates/doors made of 2x4s be aware.I'm glad it worked for me.Like i said, it's a really nice product.

A right-hand open door is supposed have the handle on the right when you are standing outside a room, or yard, and latch inside. This handle has to be mounted on the left side of the door if the latch is inside. Completely opposite as described. Very nice latch, just can't work for me. I had to return it.

The quality is quite nice; solid, seems durable, I liked how it looked. The design could be improved where only one side of the handle turns at a time; having the opposite side turn can make the handle hit the frame. It would also have been much easier to install if they provided a template to show where to cut the hole for the pin. The pin was also super long and I had to cut it down to work; if I didn’t have tools for that it would have not worked for me.

I added this latch to a exterior gate that I made out of wood. The latch mechanism is perfect, the handle closes nicely to the lock and very pleased with the quality of everything.The one modification I had to make, was the cut the metal hexagon rod that connects the two sides of the handle that makes both sides turn when one side is turned. It was 1" too long for my door thickness of 1.5".I think some people were adding an additional piece of wood to add more depth to the door - But I wanted a cleaner install. I found a cutoff wheel did the job pretty easily to the hexagonal rod.I believe the rod is meant for 2.5" door thickness. Anything less you'll need to either build up your door thickness or cut off the hexagonal rod.Overall very happy with the hardware itself.

odd shank demensions. fence gate is pretty standard but the 2 sizes provoded are +/- .5the hook has a vary small lip to it so can slip off easily and the retnetion bolt is very narrow and probably wont hold up to much force

All of the following have been described in other reviews, but here is my summary after completing installation.1. The descriptions are confusing. I ordered what is described as right inswing gate latch. However, the box says left inswing, and so it appears in the images. In the end, I ordered the one that looked like what I needed from the picture.2. I tried to find a customer support contact, but I was unsuccessful.3. When I received the latch, the “non-latching side handle only moved up, unlike the latching side which moved down as expected. Thinking this was a flaw, I ordered another latch. The second one had the same issue, so one can only assume this is the design.4. The non-latching handle is cast to be able to reverse the turn direction of the handle, but you need a c-clip tool to remove the C-clips and reverse the mechanism. I was able to do this successfully.5. The install went fine, but my gate is 2x4 with fence boards on top. The thickness of this was too great for the small shaft enclosures, but too small for the large one. So I had to cut about 1/2 inch off of the long shaft for the handles to sit flush.6. It would be nice if the receiver hardware had a slot versus holes to adjust and fine tune placement.7. You should also purchase a gate stop to prevent the latch arm from bending when it hits the receiver.8. Quality of casting seems good. Powder coat had some small imperfections on one of the pieces. Don’t know if that was from manufacturing or a prior purchaser’s damage.For the price this is a good value, time will tell how the finish holds up in the sun and the quality of the inner mechanisms.
