Installing/replacing hinges as a one man work force sucks, but these have a nice brushed finish, installation was tricky without a second set of hands, but as a replacement for a door that no one ever had the mind to close, it was worth the struggle. Took maybe a half hour, and that includes the actual ‘tuning’ to make it perfect for closing and latching the darn door. Just make sure you PRESS, NOT TURN, the Allen key into the hole to release tension to open them up for install. I misread it and was trying to crank it out. I’m not very good at reading directions... but if your like me and read reviews better, then I hope I helped ya out.

Great solution for a door closer. I didn't want an external piston-based one. It was very easy to pop off the old hinges and replace with these hinges. They work well. Word of caution: be very careful when releasing the springs as they are very powerful. I initially put too much tension on them and had to release the springs to start over. Bam, the Alan wrench spun out of my hand and pinned my finger to the door. This was very painful. I recommend popping the tension out with a nail instead that won't catch the threads and do you damage.

Great product. Excellent support. Pretty simple installation if you are the least bit handy. The hinges are working as described and I have a half dozen doors equipped with them. Very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this product.Almost a year later. Still all working. Some complain about the spring snapping. Be sure of reinstall the screw in the top to retain the tension setting. Once I did that, they have worked flawlessly.

Hardly worth the material it was put together with. The springs lose tension for no apparent reason. The install instructions provide no detail in what to do when the springs lose tension. It worked for about 5 opening and closings of the door before I heard the spring snap and lose its tension. After repeating the tensioning process about 3 times I became fed up. What's the point of automation when I need to repair it constantly? Beyond useless. I would never purchased again. Nor would I recommend you bother with this. I am mechanically inclined, so this is not user error.

Crazy heavy and high quality hinges. Not really for use on an indoor door...they slam the door shut.

Could not get the springs to stay wound. They would tighten but as soon as you opened the door you would hear them pop and unwind.

Doesn’t work. Put two hinges on, tightened them, then when we opened the dirt there was a pop sound and the hinges won’t close the door.
