This didn't work well for 18 AWG. It just doesn't crimp far enough to keep the wire in. You can get around this by rotating the wire a bit and crimping it again, forcing it to get pinched further... or just use a different crimper. Works well for 16 AWG.

I use this type crimper at my job often. These work just as well as the more expensive sets we have at work.

This Deutsch barrel crimper works great, I have been using it with the smaller series 20-16ga. connectors with good results. I used it to crimp connectors on my 250 Superkart wiring harness using Deutsch connectors in the USA.The tool is sturdy and functions well. It was a fraction of the price of the high end versions that I looked at. For a restorer or general car guy this is great value. In fact I bought a second one for my workshop in Australia.!!
