Time saver, but be careful on hardwoods
Recently, I started to make custom picture frames using hardwoods as a beginner woodworker. It's common to use small nails as a cheaper alternative to this, but this point driver will make the framing process much easier and quicker. The only issue is driving the framing points into hardwoods. In fact, the package contained a note recommending the Rigid points for hardwoods. When driven into maple or oak, the Flex points bent at the highest (+) to medium depth setting. At the shallowest depth setting (-) with the adjustment screw completely loosened, the bending of Flex points is minimal, but the insertion is only about 1/8 inch. That's about the triangular tip of the point embedded into the frame, but I could not remove them by hand so I think it's good enough for holding the glass and picture/backing. In contrast, the Rigid points had no issues with softwood (pine) or hardwood (maple and oak). Note that the adjustment screw appears to have a lot of depth adjustments since the screw extends about 3/4 inch from the base of the driver, but the difference in the actual depth is pretty subtle. I probably keep it at the shallower depth setting to minimize the points bending when driven into the hardwood. As noted by other reviewer, it's a good idea to test it before you use it on the actual frame. This is my first impression of this product, and I will update as I use it more.

Great point driver for wooden picture and art frames
This point driver is perfect for driving flexible and rigid points into wooden picture frames. Two samples of different points come with the driver. One is a rigid point: Logan F54 Rigid Points for F500 Dual Driver Pack of 600One is a flexible point: Logan Dual Drive Elite Flexipoint Refill, 600-PackBoth will bend but obviously the rigid points are made for a more permanent installation of artwork. One thing I like about this point driver is that is has an adjustable depth that it will drive points. You simply turn the knob on the back of the driver to adjust the point depth. This is great because it allows you to drive points into any type of wood you want without over or under driving. You can drive points into hardwood or softwood. Personally what I do is I cut samples of each wood I work with and find out what tension I need to drive the points to a certain depth. I mark how far out the tension nut on the back of the driver is directly on the wood. So whenever I need to set it for a certain wood I just find the sample piece and I am good to go.The dimensions of the point driver can be seen in the photo I have attached.Pros:*Predictable drive depth*Durable construction*Comes with 25 or so Rigid and Flexible points to try the driver outCons:*NoneOverall: 5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 starsIf you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Another great Logan tool - make sure to buy more points though!
Easy enough to use, and works great after a little adjustment. I wish tensioning was a little easier to quantify for repeatability but other than that it was pretty much ready to go out of the box! Dont forget to order points with this. Only about 20 come in the box and you can only use their brand with this driver so stock up!

Solidly built tool
This is great for doing framing. It is a very heavy solid tool and doesn't malfunction on me. Now, sometimes I have to be careful because I staple my stuff too tight and break the glass. But that's my problem. The tool is great.

Perfect item when putting mats and photos in wooden picture frames
I purchased a number of picture frames locally. I removed the backing and clips from the frames because I was putting in my own matting. I had to remove the clips because my matting was thicker. I purchased this pinning gun to replace the clips I removed. It worked perfectly. I was able to put together my new mats and frames in just minutes. I do recommend backing off on the "Depth" setting at first. You will waste a few clips, but you can adjust the depth setting and get a perfect clip depth this way. Also, either put the wood frame side against a solid area (wall) or hold it very tight, because the clip being inserted pushes on the wood frame. I only wasted 3 clips before I had a perfect setting. If you remat or change out photos in a frame that uses these style of clips, I would highly recommend getting one of these guns. I would also recommend not bending the clips, but just remove the old ones and shoot in new ones. You can purchase 600 clips for under $10. Great product and I would recommend it highly. Also Adorama Camera is a great place to purchase items. I have been using them since the 80s and I have had not problems in the over 50 purchases from them.
