This tool isn't exactly the same as the tool Tom uses, but his tool is patent pending and this EPPARN tool smashes the burger perfectly to make the Smashburger.We bought the 6.3" round version of this tool, and it is all that it is advertised to be. It is sturdy, functional, and easy to clean. There are many versions of this tool. One feature that sets the EPPARN version apart from others is that the smash surface, the support sides, and the handle are all formed, and laser welded together to make one solid tool that prohibits food and bacteria from finding seams and crevices to get stuck in and makes cleaning difficult. This tool is easy to clean and dishwasher friendly.

I bought this to creat smash burgers, the only issue I have is if you leave the unit to close to the cooking surface/grill - the handle gets hot

This is a pretty solid press. Burgers turn out how you want them to.

Great size and weight for smash burgers, panini style sandwiches. We've also used for Cuban sandwiches.
