Common Science and Practicality on a Great Book!
I am enjoying this book. We have several of Dr Mark Hyman’s other books. This one talks about the current state of health and the steps of longevity. Mark Hyman is an experienced scientist and seasoned writer. He speaks from experience and is full of practical advice and it’s easy to understand! A clear, well-thought-out approach to managing your health. And the format is well-structured and presented. Thanks for giving us the structure to live longer.

Excellent in parts
there’s some great down to earth advice, based on real science. If you want to improve the quality of your life it’s very helpful. The downside is that it’s very Americanised, I cannot believe we need the never ending pile of supplements recommended. , if you are eating the right foods. some of the therapies are way out there, expensive and mostly unavailable in the uk unless you are millionaires.

Some good suggestions
The book is too repetitive and lectures on about much of what is already known. In fact his podcast, which inspired me to buy the book, is better as it’s a synopsis. There is a good short book in there, but it takes ages to draw out of the long book.

Brilliant. A Must Read for Everyone
A totally different way to treat disease. The sooner traditional medicine switches to Functional Medicine, the sooner it will change health for the better. Dr Hyman is a genius & anyone who understands medicine will truly appreciate this fantastic book. Food should be thought of as a set of instructions to the body. UPFs give bad instructions to the body & bad things will happen to you. Dr Hyman does recommend some high quality supplements & that’s because of the lack of nutrients in our diet from the destruction of soil by humans.

Change your life for better
Very easily understandable book and clearly suggests easy step by step plan to help you improve your physical and mental state without having to depend on the NHS too much and so it's a win win for the whole world and Mark Human will Very easily deserve the best place in heaven for doing this wonderfully well with God's guidance.....bless this guy.

Expectation is a disappointment waiting to happen…
I was so excited about this book- I had preordered it, something I never do…I love Mark Hyman’s work and have followed him for a long long time and have read all of his books. One big simple lesson from Mark Hyman is to avoid eating anything with ingredients that one does not understand (processed foods etc) so I have to say I was flabberghasted at the recipe provided in this book for a daily age busting smoothie that does not contain a single natural ingredient. All chemical supplements (and many of them) to be mixed into a daily smoothie. I don’t think anyone in the blue zones would ever do that! I was looking forward to this book- but I was hoping for food as medicine, not more branded chemical supplements (that are mostly available in the US). The American approach is often a pill for an ill- and it is no different in the alternative world of supplements and functional medicine. Just another big pharma in disguise. So I hope there is a way to stay biologically young without taking so much supplementation. I am pretty sure all the centenarians this book refers to have never taken a single supplement in their long lives.

Mark Hyman merita di essere seguito
La scienza ci allunga la vita, ma che ce ne facciamo di arrivare a 90 o 100 anni se il cervello non funziona e non siamo più in grado di fare le cose più banali in autonomia? Il libro (in inglese) spiega come vivere in modo sano e arrivare alla vecchiaia in buone condizioni fisiche e mentali. Parte dallo stile di vita e dai segreti di longevità dei sardi dell’Ogliastra e dei greci di Ikaria. Temo che siano esempi in via di estinzione tra i giovani locali. Il libro ha come target la popolazione Americana, lo stile alimentare e di vita, ma resta comunque un valido manuale anche per noi italiani.
