Anwser the question wanting to know about AWS
Not completely finish the AWS book but when starting to read the text, it responded to question, having when taking AWS as a college course. For example, the architectural question, also the testing process, do not get me wrong, the college course was very informative, also had the same information but more, but in college reading the information is all over the place. With the AWS for developers (for dummies), it explain the process in order, when reading a curtain points in the book have a better understanding where the topic is going. The AWS book give the reader web links to discuss the application to understand the application and approach.

Simple is good.
As a Computer Forensics Expert, I literally need to know something about everything in the IT Universe. I don’t need to know everything and I don’t need to be an expert, but I need to know enough to understand a particular platform or service and be able to gain a rudimentary skillset quickly. Some of the For Dummies books have helped me in this regard and this is one that goes on that list. Amazon Web services (AWS) is immensely powerful Just in its tier of free services, it offers 24 services, most of which would have been unavailable to the average person or small business just a few years ago. But the availability of a service without the ability to access and use it is useless. That’s where author John Paul Mueller comes in. In “AWS for Developers For Dummies’, he lays out the pathway to learning how to use AWS.This book is to be praised for its 1-2-3 approach to the basics. It is intended for beginners and is very helpful. Mueller’s language is clear, relatively jargon-free and he has loaded the text with easy to follow (and useful) examples. Plentiful illustrations and examples make learning the basics of AWS simple, though not labor-free. Of course, you need to know your own platform, such as Windows or Macintosh, before you start with AWS. Quite frankly, those who are not familiar with the Command Line Interface (CLI) would benefit by gaining some experience with it before starting this book or attempting to use AWS. For people who want a quick introduction to AWS without spending a humongous amount of time learning esoterica, this is an excellent starting point.Jerry

Not for novices ... Prior Cloud Computing Experience Required
I don’t usually go for the “for dummies” series because they tend to be kind of basic, but this book is a exception. It covers much of the basics but reads more like a technical manual than a step-by-step guide, however it’s still great for novices to AWS. It's very detailed and much more readable than the official Amazon documentation. However, it doesn't give specifics, like how to set up a server environment or scaling an app on AWS. As such, I can only recommend this book for people who know a good working knowledge about cloud computing but need to learn the specifics about Amazon Web Services.

Agressively bad; has no structure
The book is a laundry list of aws products, sprinkled with links to other documents and products, but no explanation of how or why you would use any of the services; and stuffed with off-topic blurbs on barely relevant topics. A book badly in need of an over-arching structure.

Good enough but extremely basic
Good intro to programming but quuite basic. You won't know how to do much with AWS by the time you finish it but you'll have a good enough grasp of the terminology to start learning how to use it.

AWS development in a fun and concise way - recommended!
The format of this book is consistent with others in the ‘for dummies’ series - it explains how to use the book, dispels myths and assumptions and then challenges you to start your new adventure. It segments the learning into five helpful sections: The AWS development environment; the development process; performing basic tasks; interacting with databases and then the part of tens. Working systematically through the chapters and revisiting sections to check understanding prepares you well for the challenging, interesting and exciting fifth part - ‘the part of tens' where you create applications and look at ten tools every developer needs. A great learning resource for AWS that will give you a taste and foundation to build upon and leave you wanting to do more. Recommended for those who are studying for AWS certification and/or developers who are looking to begin work with AWS.

A basic "first look" at AWS
I already work with AWS, but I'm on the Architecting side - so I mainly deal with designing solutions and mostly these days training people to design on AWS. I am not a developer, but it's something I know I'm lacking in. All I can really say about this book is that it's really basic - so its target market is people who develop who know nothing about AWS (unfortunately I'm NOT in that segment so it is of very limited value to me). Some of the sections are relatively interesting, mostly those dealing with databases Amazon RDS and DynamoDb being the managed services that most people use when architecting a solution, but now I know a little bit more.A good first look at AWS, but not much else.

Good for beginners, and even for more experienced developers
I've just started having to work with AWS in my job, and even though I've been on several training courses, and now have a wealth of books on the subject, AWS for Developers for Dummies is proving a godsend for when I need the answer to what I know is a numpty question, but I need to ask anyway. There are good examples of app building using Java and Python (the latter of which I didn't know much about until the last couple of weeks), and working through these has taught me an awful lot. A good book for beginners, and even one that I suspect relatively knowledgeable AWS developers will find useful. Four stars.

Very Good Instroduction to AWS
A decent treatment of the Amazon Web Services, it’s a comprehensive introduction. Like other 'Dummies' books, it makes the subject easy to grasp. This has given me more information compared to a series of Videos I watched. They did a good job of including many, which utmost, are legible, screenshots with clear explanations are not verbose. I like the section on installing and using Python as your chosen Programming language, including its installation on all major Operating Systems. It has an adequate index which is great to quickly look up keywords if you want to deep into a specific topic.
