Howard Lighting E2/40RS-120MC Electronic Ballast for Operating Two F40T12 Lamps

This was about half the price of the ones you can get in a hardware store. But the electronics aren't quite as good. You can see ripples of light through the bulbs, because the filters in the ballast let some harmonics through. I don't know if this will damage the bulbs, but the ripples can't be seen through a normal light fixture's plastic cover.

I replaced the flickering ballasts in all eight of the old double four foot T12 fluorescent fixtures in my garage with these. These things are awesome! They start instantly even down to 30 degrees and my electric bill for the garage has gone down too. Plus, they are cheaper (and fully electronic) compared to the ballast replacements I got previously at my local big box home improvement store for about $27 each - and that only instant start down to 40 degrees. You can't beat that!

Just what they advertised and everything I expected. The shipping could have been faster.

This is the second one that I have bought. They not only physically replace the original easily but they perform better. Faster starting.

I bought 2 of these fluorescent T12 ballast 40 watt 2 lamp, they fit perfect in original slots, they are thinner but fit perfect, plenty of wire to replace the originals with and worked great, I bought 2 plus shipping, for the price of one at a local hardware store we all use, great product. I replaced a 20 year old ballast with this unit and it performed great the very first time. It was quiet and the lamps lighted up immediately.

I used this ballast to replace an old one in a 4 foot fixture. I had no problems at all. It is smaller and lighter than the old one, but fit perfectly in the same mounting position/hardware. The wires were plenty long enough to reach the bulb sockets, and it worked properly as soon as it was installed.

This is the perfect replacement for a 4-foot, two light florescent setup using the older style bulbs.It's significantly lighter then the older style magnetic basalts and the start time is excellent.
