KZ-30 Range Hood, Stainless-Steel

This is a lovely, easy to install range hood. It is relatively quiet. In high power it creates a draft in my kitchen you can feel! I was going to order an LED light upgrade. When I looked at the"spare" bulbs included to see the size, they were LED! they included the upgrade with the hood! Be sure to notice that. Mine was in for days before I noticed.As for the installation - super simple. Two screws mount the main unit. Two smaller dress mount the chimney bracket. That's it! Due to possible miss information, or lack of information about the height,I am ordering a chimney extension. The maximum length is 34" top to bottom on this curved unit. Even though the chimney length states a 31.5", you lose about a half inch due to the curve cut into the bottom. See my drawing for more detailed measurements.

We took our time installing the range hood. There was a lot of research on which Damper to purchase and what was the best elbow option. Our stud went down the middle of the wall. We had to mount to the left and right the range hood, so we considered options for installing the anchors for this 50 pound unit. The damper was off to the left of the stud. We made the decision to open the wall when we saw there was no plate to distribute the weight. We added a stud. Now that it is up, we love it. It really does a great job of getting the heat out of the house from our gas range. We did pizza last night and in the summer that is very questionable. But, the vent made the difference.

This is a terrible range hood if you have Ceiling Height Cabinets and you use the ductless/recirculating option with charcoal filters. Basically the louvered top vents (top left and right of chimney) let the high pressure fan air blow out and said air travels down the cabinet and hits the stove top, causing an erratic stove top flame. I called Z-Line customer support and they have no fix for this, basically telling me that my cabinets are too tall. Asked for someone in Product support and customer service rep could not help me. This people is a true case of terrible customer service, definitely not a solutions based company. Guess I'm stuck with this whirl wind blower. The one positive is that the range hood looks good hanging on my wall, hope it does not cause a fire in my kitchen. I'm sure if you direct vent outside the Range hood is perfect, unfortunately I did not have this option.

Overall, this unit is a great value. We priced many range hoods and found this offered the best value. The contractor who installed the hood was impressed enough to ask where I had sourced it and plans to use Z-Line products in the future. The unit itself works great and even on the lowest fan setting does the job well. We had a problem with one of the light housings but a call to customer service took care of the problem and we has the part in a few days. On the minus side, be prepared for some strong air movement (and noise) when using the fan on higher settings. Overall, a great value!

I am very satisfied with this purchase and want to share my experience here. First the item arrived ahead of the estimated arrival time, great excitement. More importantly, the interaction with the seller is superb! The light stopped working within 2 days of installation. Bethany, the customer representative, was not only responsive, she went out of her way to help me in the process, kept me updated in every step of contacting the manufacturer, arranging replacement parts, and tracking deliveries. She was also very helpful in making sure my challenges were addressed sufficient, sometimes within hours.As a buyer, I feel much more relieved to learn that there are someone caring people on the seller end to assist me and answering my every question, and walk me to a solution. All in all, extremely courteous and professional customer service has won me over as a permanent customer!

I liked the unit and features however I could not use it. Local code requires less then 400 CFM. Anything 400 CFM or higher requires an air make up system to be added to your HVAC. This can be thousands of dollars to have the upgrade to your HVAC. I returned this and went with a range hood. less then 400 CFM. If you read the user manual and installation in it’s entirety it will mention the air make up requirement. We are having a kitchen remodel done by a contractor and they informed us the unit could not be used without the air make up system. If you are installing this yourself technically you need to pull a DIY permit however many DIY’rs don’t pull permits so the air make up will not be an issue.

We loved this range hood which we bought at lowe's because of contractor. However, just over a year later, both LED lights have gone out and you CANNOT get in touch with the company in any way to get help. The manual that came with our product and the YOUTUBE videos are clearly wrong for our unit. They won't answer the phone or chat complaining about COVID. It is difficult even to send an email. I doubt they will answer. Really disappointing to be treated this way. I would be very very wary of the product once it is about 18 months old.

Love how efficiently and quietly my hood is able to move all the cooking odors out. It keeps my stove top very well lit. It makes a statement in my kitchen and is the envy of my friends. Would definitely recommend this product.
