Marlin Bree has done it again. His writing grows with every book. The term broken seas conjures up feelings of foreboding, danger and the loneliness of the ones who have the courage to forego the safety that is engendered by the group. Even those who were part of the Edmund Fitzgerald's crew whose final moments on a sinking ship are so hauntingly described could not find solace in the group and have their terror lessened when the ominous sounds of breaking steel plates made their hearts race. After all the tumult of the sinking had died down the possible few who had survived the plunge waited in the dark and a horrible silence on the bottom of Lake Superior in a small air bubble for the last struggle of drowning.It takes a sailor and a man who has himself faced similar moments of terror out on a stormy Lake Superior to feel and describe what the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Mike Plant aboard the Coyote endured when they knew that all was lost.There are beautiful and poignant stories in this book, told by an accomplished and gifted writer about gallant and brave men who did not blink when fate tried to stare them down.A great read for all those who appreciate in-depth, sensitive and compassionate writing.

Good book but very lengthy delivery of it.

Good stories but not much substance to them.However if you like alot of breaks this is for you but i like more depth.

Marlin Bree does an excellent job of telling about adventures at sea. I have read lots of his books and have never been disappointed!

Great read cover to cover. If your a seafarer by heart even on dry land this is a salty dog!
