I bought the Southwire Continuity PRO 40040S to trace the wires for my garage door sensors and button, and it worked out perfectly! This tester made it incredibly easy to identify and trace the wires without any hassle. It’s straightforward to use, even for a homeowner like myself without extensive electrical experience.

I hac a CT20 that was stolen and did without one of these for several years. Not needed very often but they save some walking and getting up and down. This one has some extra features besides being lower in price. The continuity detector has 3 levels; less than 150ohms, rapid red & green flash and beep; 150 to 2.9K ohm, slow green flash & beeps; 2.9K to 5.3K, fast red flash & beeping. The CT20 would say continuity at 2K & less only. These have a GMA100ma fast blow fuse that might protect it if you forget about a live circuit. It has a 5yr warranty and claims to be 6ft drop tested. Thats good, I, myself can't pass the 6ft drop test anymore. This one does not come with a little bag to keep it in, so off to the dollar store.

There is only room for one ignorant person on the job and I have this position filled. This product allowed me to eliminate this issue. It did a great job assisting me at determining which wires were which in separate rooms. It did it's job well. I liked that it continually beeps unlike others I've looked at that would only beep once which could leave you unsure in some situations.

The only problem is that I have used it twice since I bought it and it stopped working. Let's see how customer service works.

I can’t say enough about this piece of kit. I would of saved a lot of time over the years tracing and labeling wires when pulling a large bundle through conduit. This is my second unit as I fried my first one (my fault, we forgot to remove the receiver from some wires when power was hooked up). But I gladly bought another as it’s worth it. I use it on residential, commercial and automotive wiring.
