Scotty Baitcaster/Spinning Rod Holder with 241 Side Deck Mount

The other reviews and post I read talked about it being hard to remove the holder from the base mount which it was but a drop of 3 n 1 oil fixes that right up. I've had other brands with the locking ring or collar and I'm thinking I like this one better with the rubber strap

Got this and been using it a few times fishing. It's sturdy enough. However the opening could be a bit wider. I have a rod that has a wider rod butt and have to squeeze the rod and an out. The strap keeps the rod sturdy in the holder.

Great product. Works well for both spinning and baitcaster reels. Use them for trolling and they do the job well.

Received this Scotty Holder & looks to be sturdy - exactly as described. Should work well for spinning rod applications (I will be using them with an ultralite spinning rod/reel for still fishing applications), I like the "smaller" size compared to other holders. One issue is the little "rubber reel cushion pieces" were loose in the package, one was not there. Scotty needs a design improvement here - they DO NOT STAY in their slot. Contacted Scotty via their website email contact link, new rubber cushion sent out immediately. Also asked for instructions on how to secure the cushions in the holder - recommendation was silicone adhesive or instant glue. Went with the silicone adhesive, seems to be holding well so far. Additional mount bases are available for different locations in the boat - plan to purchase a couple more to accommodate alternate using locations. I like the Scotty universal mount base design compared to other holders (optional mounting orientations with the same mount piece - important when selecting the location in your boat). Overall seems to be a well designed product (Scotty lost one star for the cushion issue).

Love this rod holder, as other reviewers said, it's a pretty tight fit when you're trying to remove the rod holder from the physical base. I used my leatherman to grind down the "teeth" or whatever that notch it to adjust the rotation of the rod holder and it loosened it up pretty good. Nice and strong and held the rods really well

Does what it needs to do could be a little bit deeper

I have 0 complaining about how sturdy and easy this holder is, everything works great, no hardware but for the price it's very acceptable and easy to get and install with other ordered hardware. Easily fits both my salt and fresh water poles and while adjusting angles and direction isn't the fastest it's makes up for it being sturdy where you set them, no worries if them drifting out of place or a fish stealing your poll

I like this version of the Scotty rod holder as it works for all of my different fishing rods, even my fly rods. It’s sturdy and ones I had in the past on other boats would even withstand a hard strike by a 32” Northern Pike when trolling!

I now have two of these on two kayaks and the first one is perfect …very strong plastic and good price…a lifetime product!
