I'm very happy with my Health O Meter Oversized Dial Scale. Its readings are consistent, its not too large, and it's attractive. I had been under a misconception that digital scales would be more accurate than mechanical ones, possibly because they show ounces, but after purchasing two different relatively expensive digital scales, I found the ounce readings useless considering the fact that the digital weights varied as much as 5-8 pounds repeatedly. My first mistake was ordering a Talking Health-O-Meter directly from a Medical Company instead of through Amazon (I had to pay for the return postage for an inaccurate scale that varied as much as 8 pounds for each of a dozen consecutive tries, a scale that had the annoying tap-on feature (which in reality involved repeated taps and then getting on and off to 1st activate it and then to get a weight reading). After a great deal of additional comparison I ordered the Health O Meter Oversized Dial Scale, together with an Eat Smart Precision Premium Digital Bathroom Scale 3.5 inch LCD (one of the rare digital scales that did not incorporate a tempered glass component [which could shatter], and that did not require annoying tapping to activate). I planned to keep both scales but the digital Eat Smart Scale was repeatedly inaccurate: in the course of more than 25 test weigh-ins, it often repeated the last given weight (correct or not), for the next 2-3 consecutive readings, which varied from 196.8 to 190.2 (190 being correct), so will be returning it. If the problem was the flatness and evenness of my floors, I can't do anything about that (and don't think it reasonable to design a scale that is so dependent on the perfect flatness of a floor (maybe such a scale should incorporate a flat platform as a base). While my Health O Meter Oversized Dial Scale showed an accurate 190lbs for each of a dozen consecutive test weigh-ins, the scale is very sensitive to movement: the pointer and reading may fluctuate while one is standing on the scale but mine fluctuated only less than a pound in either direction. While I am dieting and want to track my weight loss, after my experience with two inaccurate digital scales, and after reading many negative reviews associated with several scales, I am satisfied with an analog scale that rounds off to the pound and no longer find great significance in ounce readings (which even the intake of fluids or activity could affect). However, if a person desires readings with ounces, does not mind the need for batteries of some sort, the need to tap to activate in most digital scales, is not bothered by the fact that most digital scales incorporate glass, have appropriate flooring level enough to facilitate accurate readings and can find said digital bathroom scale accurate enough for their liking, then this simple mechanical scale may not be for them.

This scale proves why the old school ways were better. I purchased a digital scale prior to this dial one, as they are supposedly more accurate and reliable; the cake was a lie. Build: The quality of this scale is very high and it shows. It has brushed aluminum on the feet plates, and weight dial is easy to read. Accuracy: This scale is 110% accurate and works as intended. I've seen some reviews, stating the scale is not accurate, because it doesn't start on 0 and misrepresents your weight; this statement is a lie. Either people are spreading misinformation and do not know how to use this scale or disinformation and just want to mislead people but this is not true. Yes, the scale may not start at 0, but this is the nature of dial scales. To address this, there is dial at the bottom of every one of these types scales. You simply turn this dial, until the arrow rests on zero: problem solved! Overall, this scale is easy to read, easy to use, and works like a charm.

The hashmarks between the numbers are a little small when shaded; it can be hard to see fine distinction if you're tall. It also doesn't sit at zero... usually goes between 1-3 pounds when empty. That said, the ADDED weight is QUITE accurate - so subtract what it says at zero and you've got something reliable. Well-built. Basically decent product. It would profit from a reset-to-zero tare kind of feature, but I don't expect that in a mechanical scale. Would buy again. EDIT: It's got a reset to zero feature. *headdesk* It's hiding in the front, a little dial that lets you fine-tune the zero mark to match your circumstances. More than adequate.

I'm perfectly happy with my purchase. I hated having to buy batteries for the digital ones. There's no need for batteries, so it will save you $$. It works perfectly and although I saw other reviewers complained about having to reset the needle every time they use it, I personally have to only reset it about every 5 to 10 uses. It works like a charm!! The only negative, which is barely worth mentioning is that the weight markings are tiny and can be difficult to read, especially for someone with bad eyesight. But, when you consider all rotary scales present the same problem, there seems no getting around it, then I can truly say this is a five-star scale! Just know that you might need a magnifier or reading glasses when you use it in order to see an exact weight. For me, exact isn't necessary. I just want to have a good idea about where I stand within a three-pound scope, and this scale does that and even better. It seems to be quite accurate in terms of exact poundage (its measurements are consistent, unlike digital scales, which show a different weight each time you step on them). I simply choose most of the time not to worry about a possible pound or two. I give it a quick look, and I'm satisfied!

The scale gets the job done as I've indicated it's accurate easy to read it seems like it's Made well but it is not high quality Steel it's just enough to get the job done it's probably even overpriced but you can count on it and you don't have to mess around fooling with a battery not everything has to have modern day Technology Incorporated into it this is simply 19 50 60 70s 80s and 90s technology and it just gets the job done if you're looking for something that matches your Decor or that's more modern looking this isn't your scale if you want something that you can just put in your bathroom cabinet the story out of the way until the next time you need it then by this one

and unfortunately the doctor's scale said I was the exact same weight as this scale said I am. I really wanted my new scale to be over by a few pounds. I guess I can't complain about it not being accurate. When I first got it in, I calibrated the scale to 0. The scale must be lying flat on the floor and you slide the little wheel recessed on a side until the hand is on 0. As long as you don't pick up or kick the scale around, you should be able to go a while without calibrating it again. But you will have to calibrate it again. That's just the nature of these types of scales. As long as I don't have to change a battery, I don't care. No batteries with this scale! If you have low vision or if you never had a watch or a scale with a regular dial before and don't have a clue how to read a dial, then you're better off with a digital scale. Or if you watch your weight so closely that you need to know the exact moment you gain or lose one pound. The numbers are large, but are in 20 lb increments. The 10 lb marks are a bold, black line. You can tell 5 lb marks by the pronounced, empty gaps. And you know the pounds on each side of these numbers/marks/gaps. But it does get a little tight with those 3 lbs between the more obvious marks/lines/gaps. I love the classic design and the steel casing. Just don't put it right next to the shower where water can drip all over it if you're not the type to wipe it down when it gets wet. You will have unsightly drip marks all over that beautiful steel finish.

Despite having a large window and easy-to-read numbers, the range is so wide it is hard to get an accurate reading on this scale. I purchased and a digital readout scale at the same time to compare. This scale is challenging to read (unless your weight is one of the exact measurements of 120, 140, 160, 180) - anything in between is hard to discern. Further it is not fully accurate; even after recalibrating it to zero, it will give a reading that is not as accurate as my digital scale (to be expected). Considering the digital scale costs less, I prefer that one. This one just gathers cobwebs, would not buy again unless you *MUST* have an analog scale.

I bought this scale because of the size - I have big feet and thought it would be easy to read as the numbers are large. If you can say that you actually 'enjoy' a scale then that would be how I would describe it. I've never been disappointed - it weighs accurately, the large numbers are a benefit and the scale is easy enough to keep clean. One thing I have not been happy with in a previous older scale I had was that it rusted and I didn't want that to happen again and with this Health O Meter Oversized Dial Scale, there is no sign of rusting on the metal part. It's a keeper!

O produto é bonito e parece ser de qualidade. Entretanto foi a pior compra feita por mim no Amazon até agora. Demorou 22 dias para chegar, não veio tão bem embalado como de costume e ainda por cima houve lançamento em duplicidade no meu cartão de crédito. Tive que ligar para o banco para esclarecer!

I ordered this scale because of the large numbers. no fuss, no changing of batteries, the product is very good, same as advertised.

I had a battery operated scale and I like this type of scale so much better. It is obviously not as accurate, but it is well within the range of what I need.
