Better buy than I expected!
Now, I didn't really know what to expect when I purchased this. I've owned dozens of cheap, pen-type soldering irons, and all of them were junk. Even the fancier ones with replaceable tips... Junk... This is the first soldering iron that did NOT start to disintegrate after a few uses! It gets hot in about a minute, maybe a bit less, and stays hot until i turn it off. I have no idea how accurate the temperature is, but it melts solder after 300c consistently. I've used a friend's top-shelf soldering station, and think this is almost that good! Is it as good in actuality? Of course not... However, if you just don't have the budget for a name-brand soldering station, this will do fine. Keep your tip clean and use flux! I suggest a big stand for your iron. The little folding one they provide is worthless.

Have done several sets of solder jobs and so far so good ....but...
The lcd iron is no doubt a better choice than the cheaper $12.00 units with the cheesy turn knob, that literally melts...cos they get to hot... this one has been thru 7-8 soldering jobs days and weeks apart and time per job / on time from 30 min to 5 hours , idling by at high heats ,(try to turn it down if I remember between current solder spans) the only thing I find abit cumbersome is the lcd programing/ temp settings .. Try to slowly and methodically set up and understand the directions of proper heat adjustment , my self diagnosed ADHD kicks in and think that somehow the product designer / manufactuer could have made it easier to set.. I happen to believe even the Chinese consumers have issues following the temp and other settings .. I find myself just trying to atleast get it to Fahrenheit and hit the right sequence of buttons to eventualy find what I think is the proper heat settings according to the projects heat needs

Nice soldering set, good temperature control.
Better than what I expected. The tip heats up fast and the temperature control is fairly accurate. The tip stays at the selected temperature even during use. The extra provided replacement tips are an additional plus. The solder sucker works and the included tweezers are nice. The other included items help to get you started if you don't already have them available. Great attention to customer satisfaction!
Nice kit. The iron worked for a while then quit heating. I sent in a question about getting help and the owner responded, asked questions to determine the problem and, in the end, sent a replacement heating element. I installed it last night and now the iron is working again. I highly recommend this store for their attention to customer satisfaction.

Great little iron for fine soldering electronics and automotive electrical wire. Gets hot quickly. Only complaint is the readout is in Celsius but hardly a reason to take a star away.

Best budget soldering kit by far
Best budget soldering kit by far! Gets to temp in seconds and keeps a consistent temp as well. The digital temp selection is nice and precise, no need for the big bulky $50 units. First time using this kit to build two mechanical keyboards. Did as great of a job as my $100 hako unit. Not to mention this came with extra set of tips. My ONLY con would be the sponge. Go and invest in the brass wool instead.

Not very high quality
I've never had a temperature control soldering iron before. I've always been a fan of butane powered irons, but when i lost my trusty Radio Shack model I thought this might make a decent replacement for some of my small home projects, but I was wrong.Even at it's max temperature settings of 500c I wasn't able to get it to transfer enough heat into 2 18gauge wires to allow it to properly accept solder. I'm not sure if mine is just a bad model, but I'm going to make sure to spend more for my next one.
