Natural Hair Care - close to nature!
‘Natural Hair Care’ by Susan Hollister is a cute, well written guide how to look after your hair. It is valuable source of information how herbs, natural oils, vinegars and others substance help your hair. Susan gives a lots of creative, traditional and crazy recipes and remedies to keep your hair strong, healthy, shining and well styling. I am just stunned how easy you can make rich conditioner using eggs, honey, olive oils. I never heard about Castile soap so will be great to experiment with it to give extra foam to your shampoo. If you want to be eco-friendly try formula ‘No-poo’ that is foam free and natural solution for your hair. Susan provides lots of recipes for this king of formula.I like the idea of henna rinse and apple cider vinegar as a treatment for greasy and coloured dark hair. Also interesting is yarrow shampoo for greasy hair as well as green tea shampoo or rinse. I have lots of herbs to experiment and Susan gives me inspiration to do and try. Funny are myth about hair, how it grows, getting grey or split or how frequently you need to wash them. Prepare my first shampoo gives me and my kids lots of fun! Thank you Susan.

Natural Hair Care by Susan Hollister is a winner
Natural Hair Care Recipes is a winner. This book is another triumph for Susan Hollister. She takes you from the science of how your hair actually grows to the other extreme of old wives’ tales. Some of the tales turn out to be true but some, surprisingly are nonsense. Apparently, lather is not essential to clean your hair and trimming, contrary to popular belief does not make your hair grow faster. The recipes for your own shampoos are fascinating and sound delicious enough to eat. I will definitely try the one for an itchy scalp and once made, it can be stored and kept for several uses.Treatments for the hair are sometimes so amazingly easy that trying them is np problem at all. Rubbing almond oil into the hair, leaving it for twenty minutes and then washing away, feeds your hair with vitamins, calcium and magnesium, retains moisture and helps growth. The same treatment with mayonnaise as a conditioner is to rub onto dry hair, leave awhile and then rinse and shampoo. Thanks Susan for a whole lot of tips and tricks. Great book to read.

An OK book
The book goes straight to the point with easy to follow recipes for homemade haircare. As I'm a visual person I would have liked to have seen photos as well. This book is very plain also with layout. This is why I gave only three stars.

Beautiful Hair Every Day
With the rising costs of hair care products and the uncertainty of what you could be subjected your hair too, “Natural Hair Care” really is a revelation. Learn about the science behind your hair and how it grows and whilst some of the information is clearly mumbo jumbo there is an abundance of great advice. This book is packed full of hair care recipes that are really easy to follow and the results are amazing. There are different recipes in accordance with your hair type and a great chapter dedicated to creating the right conditioner for your hair. There are rinses that are used to enhance hair, recipes for styling and even hairspray. I found myself laughing out loud whilst reading the chapter on old wives’ tales however some of them really are true! I think the book is excellent and have enjoyed creating many of the shampoos and conditioners and I cannot help but feeling slightly smug as I am no longer polluting the atmosphere with harsh chemicals and that is just the hairspray! Thank you Susan for an informative and really interesting book.

It was very in formative and provides variety so that there's many recipes with accessible ingredients!

This book is a recipe book on how to make things that enhance your hair and make it healthy. It gives practical tips on how to keep your hair in good shape. The book explains how hair grows and thrives. It goes into making shampoo for every type hair there is, which is followed by a chapter on creating the conditioner that is right for you. It touches on rinses that enhance your hair and makes it smell heavenly and continues with things that help you style your hair like styling gel, pomade and hair spray. It gives you practical suggestions on keep your hair intact and how to make your hair grow or appear thicker. I love the chapter on old wives’ tales, which debunks and verifies whether those old sayings are right or note. My mother used to tell me to bread crusts to make my hair curly and I found out whether she was right or not. The book gives you styling tips and old secrets pioneers and move stars have used in the past. All in all, I found many recipes I could use for me and my family and the book was a wealth of information.

A Great Book To Have If You Have Natural Hair
This book is excellent when it comes to natural hair care. The ideas inside will help you with daily hair care, shampoo and conditioner ideas and special oil combinations that will clean your hair naturally and keep your hair healthy.I like this book because it talks about the science of hair and explains why each of the "hair recipes" works. Not all natural hair is the same so you can read the suggestions and make a determination which recipe is for you.The fact that I can now make my own natural hair care conditioners and serums, depending on the season or the condition of my hair, is great! Most of the ingredients are things I have at home or can easily find. The mayonnaise conditioner is popular but I never would have thought of banana or yogurt! And, a lavender mint rinse?! Yes please! That made my hair smell and feel really good.Even if you don't have natural hair, this book is great for keeping your hair healthy. Whether you want to make your own coconut milk shampoo, dry hair cleanser or moisturizing hair cream, you can find great hair care ideas. I highly recommend adding this book to your book shelf!

Fun Ideas and a Good Read
A nice book with a lot of fun ideas for chemical-free hair care, including a lot of non-recipe advice and tips. I particularly liked her honesty with the recipes, where she would share an idea that “friends swear by” and add her own commentary on why she personally loathed and hated a particular recipe. Be warned that despite how huge it looks in the ad, this is a tiny 7” x 10” book that runs about 70 pages.
