Very Flexible and Adjusts Well
I bought these shoes for my wife who has severe swelling and complications in her feet from diabetes including a recent toe amputation and ongoing foot surgeries. She has been unable to wear shoes or slippers except for the post surgery Velcro strap closure variety. Out of desperation, I started shopping on-line for anything I could find that might work for her wide and swollen feet. Since these slippers were highly recommended by many users, I gave them a try and was pleasantly surprised.Do not buy these for looks. They are unattractive, but they are very flexible and will flex over and across foot abnormalities to provide a comfortable house shoe. The Velcro closure on both sides of the front cap and the rear are very handy and give the user the advantage of putting them on easily. The greatest compliment my wife has made toward these slippers is that she is wearing them.I do have one complaint. There was a soft liner installed in each slipper that failed and came out of the slippers within ten days under household use. I had an leftover set of Red Wing liners left over from my work boots and set them in these slippers and they seem to work very well.

I think I can explain the sizing problem
I got these sneakers as I had severe edema in my legs and feet and I could no longer comfortably fit into my sneakers. They served their purpose for that, but I struggled with the lack of arch support. I have high arches. Thanks to the Internet, I researched on reputable medical websites, common causes of edema. As I began to suspect my cause, I examined my diet and found that I was taking only about 1/2 the US RDA of Potassium and worse, the Potassium to Sodium ratio is supposed to be just under 5:1 by weight. Mine was atrocious at about 2:2 (or for math buffs, 1:1).As I struggled to get my dietary Potassium levels up and wasn't salting anything, as I got closer to the 5:1 ration, amazing things that were medically wrong with me, started to fix themselves to my utter surprise. My ultimate goal of reducing the edema did occur as I got near to 4.7g/day (US RDA for Potassium) and just under the 5:1 ratio. Now, my feet and legs have returned to normal size. I tried these back on forgetting about the reason for buying them in the first place and I am absolutely swimming in them. With the edema, they were stretched to the max.So I would advise, before you buy these and guess at sizing up by a size or so, to go to a shoe store that still has those things that measure the length and width of your foot as it is in its swollen state and translates it to your shoe size and width in its swollen state. Absolutely forget about your normal size, because that is not what you are now if you are getting these for edema.I give it an okay, because I have high arches and even with the edema, I needed that support. I couldn't go far in these without the arch support. Having said that, when the edema was at its worst, it was great to still have something to put on my feet. I don't know what I would have done without them when it got to its worst.I'm a bit bummed to see that I swim in them now. With the edema gone, I was hoping that they would be good walking shoes. I tried my orthotics in them to give me some arch support, but all I did was slide forward and out of the orthotics (I don't know what made me slide forward in them though).I give it 3 stars because of no detectable arch support of any kind. Even when they were at their tightest with my edema and using the velcro adjustments, I still felt no arch support. It gets 3 stars too because I had something to wear despite the edema, which is a plus.

Secure, safe, sturdy; fit great on aunt with severe edema
I ordered these for a 94 year old aunt with congestive heart failure and severe edema. I ordered a 1/2 size up as I didn't want to take any chance of the shoe being too small. In hind sight I could have ordered her correct shoe size (8 1/2) because these shoes WILL fit. They are a tad too long, but nothing that makes the shoe uncomfortable or unsafe. I had already tried some stretchy mesh-type shoes in sizes 9, 9 1/2 and 10 and my aunt's feet wouldn't even begin to fit into those shoe. Her feet had become rounded like a watermelon and her toes wouldn't even begin to fit into a regular shoe or house slipper. These are the only pair of shoes her foot has comfortably fit into. The heel section of the shoe adjusts with velcro, and I needed to tightened that a little bit. The top of the shoe (a large tongue section) is generously sized and completely lifts up and can be tightened or loosened as needed. These shoes are easy to get on and off. They somehow remind me of folding a diaper around a foot--lots of ways to make it fit and adjust. My aunt shuffles her feet and that is hard on her shoes, but so far these shoes have kept their shape and stayed on her feet. They were a life saver during a time when we had run out of options and needed a sturdy, safe shoe that would not slip off or become a tripping hazard. She also keeps these shoes on all day and can put her feet up and nap in them--they are that comfortable. I wish there was a type of house slipper that worked this same way. The only pair of house slippers I could find for this same aunt were adjustable velcro men's slip on shoes, and by the time I found a pair that would go around her foot, they were too long.

Great shoes for elderly people
These were purchased for my 87 year old mother-in-law. They are perfect for her as she is having trouble with her feet swelling. It's great that she can adjust them to fit in both the heal and across the front. They do fit small though. I originally purchased a ladies US size 11 and I had to return them for a size 12.

Fits the foot that's impossible to fit
Finally a shoe that fits and is comfortable! Not sure how well they would fair in bad weather or how long they will last, as the material in the upper does not seem overly durable. The base however, seems sounds. They can be adjusted for a custom fit and they fit a foot that has been a real challenge -- even with orthotics!

Comfortable and easy to put on with a modern look
Easy to put on and secured with the velcro straps at the top and back. You do not need a shoe horn to put on the shoe and you adjust the fit to your comfort. A must have for any one with feet issues.
