Originally released on the Polydor label in December 1977, 'Before and After Science' continued to break new ground with sonic experimentation and bold forays into ambient music. Musical contributors include Phil Collins and Percy Jones from Brand X, Jaki Liebezeit from Can, Moebius & Roedelius from Cluster / Harmonia and Robert Wyatt. It features 10 songs including the single 'Kings Lead Hat', which is generally accepted to be Brian's homage to then-emerging Talking Heads. This new gatefold 2LP vinyl edition of 'Before And After Science' is presented over two 180GM discs which play at 45rpm for optimum sound quality. High resolution mastering from the best known sources and half-speed cutting were supervised by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Each album contains an Obi, Download Voucher and Abbey Road Half Speed Master certificate.

Amazing music, great mastering, acceptable vinyl.
The music is beyond reproach (do I even need to say that?). The mastering of this 1/2 speed 45rpm version is excellent and the packaging is great too. The vinyl quality rates a "pretty good." It's fairly noisy for a premium pressing, with lots of groove rush throughout, a few extraneous noises and more than a few ticks per side.I also have "Another Green World" in this series and have just ordered my third copy in hopes of getting a reasonably quiet one. I know these were cut on the same lathe and by the same engineer that did the recent Sgt. Pepper's remix which was perfect in every way (at least my copy is), and I presume it was also pressed in the same plant. Not sure why the quality is subpar on these when they did such an amazing job on the Pepper's.... a little disappointing to say the least. (For the record, I've been buying LPs for 40 years and I really don't think I'm being overly picky.)I'll take a chance on the remaining two, but will be sure to buy from a source I can return/exchange with (thanks Amazon!). Fingers crossed...

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.
NOTE: I see that amazon for some reason is STILL not separating reviews for CD or LP versions of an album. This review is for the 2017 'Abbey Road Half Speed Master LP.ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. The absolute BEST cut of this album I have ever heard. I wondered if the whole 'abbey road half speed master' thing was just marketing, but this sounds incredible. Didn't see it noted anywhere when I bought them, but they are not only half speed masters, but also 45Rrpm LPs. If you like Eno and have a decent turntable, get them NOW.

In the Pantheon of Essential Rock LPs, This is Required Owning
I adore LPs for their sound quality which sounds more vivid & Natural that CD or DSDx64 (SACD). If you take care of your records clicks & pops won’t be a problem. The Problem with LPs is velocity. Ever notice how sweet The first track on the outside edge of the LP sounds with the final tract sounding squished & constrained? Well, you are not imagining things. If order to get those 6-8 tracks on side A to play properly, the first on the records outside is uncompressed while the last tract is highly compressed with the resultant loss in high fidelity. With two sides recorded in @ 45rpm, all tracks are uncompressed and sound stunning!!! A couple of months ago, A friend gave me 💕 Love’s Forever Changes (America’s answer to SGT Pepper) in 45rpm and I just rolled my 👀 eyes...until the styli dropped.OMG it was as if Arthur Lee was sitting on a bar stool in my music 🎶 room!!!I’m looking forward to playing this mid 70’s MeisterWerke. I’m deep into Post Punk & Prof. Enzo was Post Punk before there was PUNK!!!

Sound is great, but I received two LPs of sides C & D and no sides A & B
The sound quality is marvelous, and the music itself deserves 5 stars without question. However, the copy I received included two LPs of the same sides (Side C & D)—so no side A & B. I am returning this to Amazon because of the flaw, but I wonder how many were produced with this unfortunate duplication. And are there people receiving two sides of A & B?

Sublime
Eno at his most sublime. The pressings reveal hidden secrets that only add to one's appreciation of these compositions.

Ottimo.
Briano Eno "Before and After Science" ristampa su doppio vinile 180g Half speed remastered Abbey Road 2017.Dischi dritti, stampa pulita senza imprecisioni e rumori. In alcuni punti l'enfatizzazione della parte alta dello spettro a me personalmente da fastidio all'ascolto.
