Q: Does this swirl the snow without playing music?

Yes. There are actually three settings. One just has the lights and snow twinkling around. The middle setting is to turn it off. The third setting has the lights twinkling (snow) and music. It is very pretty in a dark room.

Q: In the description it says it plays music. I’m not hearing any music?

If you have inserted fresh batteries, tried the USB connection and made sure the switch is on and it still doesn’t play music, I suggest that you return it for a replacement

Q: is the globe glass or plastic?

"Plastic" will do -- I recall it is some form of poly resin, etc. Definitely not glass because I chose this product specifically for safety per gift for 5 year old
