Amazing
A good read, very interesting although it's a bit too much backwards and forwards date wise.

How have I never heard of Beryl before?
I saw a review of this book and had never heard of Beryl Burton but as a keen cyclist my wife bought me the book for Christmas. I do read biographies but usually piecemeal and just pick them up now and then and read them over a period of weeks/months. Not this one, could not put it down, what a fascinating woman and a real and unsung heroine. Some of BB’s exploits and records are just astounding as was her typically Yorkshire view of the world, great book and an amazing women. You don’t have to be a cyclist to read this but if you are you will be even more amazed at just what she could do, wow….

Great insight into probably the greatest cyclist ever
Beryl Burton is, for me, probably the greatest cyclist man or woman to have walked this planet. Just looking at what she achieved in the era she achieved it shows how far beyond anyone else she was. This book follows the author as he speaks to friends, family, rivals and teammates of this amazing and often overlooked lady.If you have never heard of Beryl Burton - read this book!If you have heard of her - read it anyway to gain a bit more insight into the incredible character that held the women's 12 hour record for over 50 years as well as countless other records, wins, medals and achievements - all the while holding down a job on a farm and raising a family.

Interesting lady
Interesting to read about this lady , amazing how she did everything but no one knows about her. She didn’t make it easy for her family. I found the book didn’t flow for me but I still would recommend it and enjoyed it

Fantastic book and insight into this not well known amazing cyclist
Recommended by a friend. I am a cyclist and I had never heard of Beryl. Wow. What a woman and really ahead of her time in breaking cycling records and against women and men. Loved it. Highly readable.

Determination in the extreme .
A hero of mine when I was younger . If you want to know what grit , stubborness and sheer determination brings then please read this book . Current footballers could learn a thing or two about getting up and carrying on regardless .

An incredible book about an incredible woman
An incredible life for sure, but so beautifully told. At times I found myself laughing out loud often in sheer disbelief at her achievements in the face of adversity, or at her manner or outlook on those events. At other times I was utterly humbled by her extraordinary talent, but throughout it all I relished turning the next page to hear more.Jeremy Wilson’s gentle style of writing, his warmth and clear passion for the sport and its characters shone throughout - a classic of a biography
