It's definitely a cheap Chinese or Korean enclosure AND I ended up spending hours writing data to it w/ it losing all of it!
This was an interesting thing. It obviously is Chinese (or some other Asian country) as it shows up in non-English. I selected the dropdown and chose English and then things were OK.A few problems:I didn't see a manual in here. The drive has absolutely no padding inside if you use a hard driveSO, what's bad about it? Well, the interface is a bit clunky on the web side. It does let you use it like a NAS, so that's a plus. BUT, without the manual (which I found online), you wouldn't know the default password for the device is admin (w/ username of admin)EDIT: DO NOT BUY THIS THING! Seriously. I had it set up on Ethernet writing files on there. It showed that there were files on it. Explorer said that there was storage in use. I looked in the folder and there sure enough were files on it. When I shut it down and reboot it after going into the mobile app (which is complete garbage, BTW), it shows NONE of the files I put on there AT ALL. The only thing that managed to get put on there was a folder I created BEFORE i put the drive in the machine. So you will end up with COMPLETE data loss if you rely on this for the hard drive potion. And yes, I tried the firmware that it installed and yet I still have complete loss of EVERYTHING I put on it. Fortunately, I was just copying files onto it and not moving it. BUT anything that does this gets thrown in the trash. A COMPLETE waste of money.

A Really Cool Hard Drive Enclosure
Limitations based on an English translation causes somewhat of a learning curve, but this hard drive enclosure is great. I purchased it to have a backup solution for photo sessions while out taking photos and this is nearly perfect. You need to interact with the drive via WiFi from an Android or iOS phone or tablet and the application is pretty clunky. But everything it claims it does... it does.Via WiFi, connecting and using the drive is pretty intuitive. Connect it to a wired connection and not only is it available as a NAS device, but the WiFi becomes a access point if the wired connection has Internet connectivity. A public area and private area can be partitioned during formatting for a public area for sharing files and also a password protected area for users.I would give it 5-stars if the app wasn't so clunky and the translation of the manual and apps were better and easier to understand.

a little frustrating
I like the "idea" of a WiFi hard drive as a server but the instructions for setting this up are all but impossible to understand, i still have not found the user name to use to log on and with some looking the password is "123456789" yea simple enough user name not that easy. It has to be setup by using a smart phone or at least that is the only way I have found to do anything. It is not plug and play without a certain amount of frustration. I have not tried others so I have no idea about them with exception of the reports I have read. It would help if the manual was write in a better order, the download manual jumps around so much making sense of it is a little difficult.

Great Idea, Horrible Device
First and foremost, I am not a beginner, I'm pretty savvy when it comes to electronics in general, so definitely not user error or anything of the sorts.Ok, NOT any 2.5" hard drive will work with this device. I had a 12.5mm thick 2.5" drive and it will not fit. The cover will not close. The features of this device were genius and well thought out. However, the device doesn't work as advertised. I tried to connect to my drive every way imaginable, all to no avail. The software is nothing short of horrible. Before returning I never did get to connect and/or access my hard drive. The software always said, "cannot connect....no device found."What I ended up doing was purchasing an external enclosure with a USB port built-in so I could plug an SD card reader directly into the enclosure for transfer. Very disappointing that this device doesn't work and the software was created by grammatically challenged individuals. Nothing against the seller, but I would not recommend this device to anyone.

Hard to setup on android
I like the design, great construction, but the only downfall is its wifi SSID cannot be found by my Android phone but can be be found by my windows tablet perfectly well with the installed programUpdate: it has since stopped connecting to my PC through wifi. My can't even find it. I really wish this device would work with my Android phone

Only for geeks who like to tinker with stuff
I have not been able to get this to work, since it overheats when I attempt to charge it, indication perhaps it has a defective battery.Only for geeks who like to tinker with stuff. For something functional that actually works, get the RAV power file hub instead.

Not functional
The device cannot operate without the mobile app. However the mobile app has been removed from the App Store and Google Play, so the device can be used as a paperweight.

Not recognized and wouldn't format drive
This is a nice idea but when plugged in to format the drive it didn't work and after formatting drive elsewhere and inserting the formatted drive in the unit it still was as useful as a paperweight (direct connection).
