Shield Tape - Temporary Automotive Paint Protection Tape 3.25" X 160'

DO NOT BUY OR USE . I covered the nosecone/front bumper of my car and it was on for 36 hours. It is impossible to not have many large bubbles in it. It looks very unprofessional on the car, however, it does its job against chips. It is fairly thick material. Sticks pretty well. BUT - I removed it after 36 hours on the car and it pulled off the paint in several places on the front bumper. The bumper had been repainted once (professionally). I also put it over my headlights. It pulled the clear coat off of one place on one of the headlight lenses.So a full nosecone and bumper repaint and having to get a new lens cost me nearly $500. I returned the tape for a refund. Again - while it says it is for autos, I would strongly suggest you not use it unless you want to be repainting.

Purchased a brand new car and drove it 400 miles home at 75mph+ for many hours. The product stayed on and totally protected the entire front of the car. I was afraid the it would stick too much to the paint, so I didn't do much to press it down. (No matter - it sticks!) I started mid hood and worked my way down to the bottom of the front end. I just overlapped the tape as indicated in the directions, so the tape sticks to the previous tape and the car. This tape didn't look really pretty - but I didn't care. I didn't want damage to a new car - prior to having a clear bra installed permanently once back at home. BTW - I did actually hit 120mph at one point passing someone - and I never had one piece of tape come loose. When I arrived later that same day, I removed the tape without any drama or issues.

While I had high hopes for this product, it failed to deliver. I put it on the front of my car, two strips on the hood and three strips along the front bumper. I put it on a very clean and polished car the night before a road trip and removed it 36 hours later after arrival. While it stayed on for the most part, the residue it left on the outer edges was very difficult to remove. And it didn't just leave a tad of residue here and there. It left it the entire length of the outer edges of the run of tape. I ended up using some auto bug and tar remover. Just the front alone, some 5 strips of tape, took about 45 minutes to remove the adhesive.

Be very careful if you use this on an older paint job. It actually lifted the paint when I peeled it off and unfortunately there was no way around it. I would have been better off using duct tape!!!

Not as good as Trakktape. More sticky, leaves residue, harder to apply.

This stuff works and it’s extremely easy to apply and remove. I drove my Jaguar F-Type from our home in NW Pennsylvania to our winter home in West Palm Beach Florida 1150 miles . This tape held up and even driving through heavy rain.very happy

Last weekend I tried the Shield Tape on my car. We were traveling to a destination 200 mi. away, so it was a good test. I masked the bumper, front license plate, mirrors, and front part of the hood.It worked like a charm. Not only it was a breeze to remove it (along with all the dead bugs that were stuck on it), but it is thick enough to protect the car finish against chipping from flying hard debris.The success of the product depends on the installation. If you cover the entire front of the car, you will use the half of the roll at a cost of about $15, but the car will be protected 100% and clean-up will be done in a couple of minutes.

I taped up my front bumper before going on a spirited drive on highway and country roads last weekend as a short test. Shield tape was easy to apply and did its job to protect against small chips and bugs. Obviously not cost effective to tape up your car every time you drive, but I think this would be useful in long distance travel, road rallies, and track days. Overall a solid product that does the job it's supposed to.
